This Sorrowful Life[]
While Martínez is on guard duty covering the North corner of the wall, Rudy calls out to him to inform him that he's here to relieve his shift, because the Governor wants to speak with him. Martínez reluctantly climbs down from atop the semitrailer catwalk and asks Rudy what the boss wants. Rudy wasn't told, so Martínez tells him to stay alert up there and heads off. Before he leaves, Rudy asks him if he's going to watch the rematch fight today but Caesar isn't sure yet.

Made To Suffer[]
During a flashback in Issue 43, Rudy accompanies the Governor, Gabe and Wes to investigate the National Guard Station explosion and subsequent gunfire at the Wal-Mart. Gabe takes Rudy and Wes with him to search for the prison's location. Rudy watches through binoculars with the others from afar as Andrea takes the prison group's best shots out to train on biters and when Alice requests one to be brought inside the walls for study. After observing them for a while, the group returns to Woodbury.
Rudy participates on the assault on the prison and is caught in the explosion caused by Billy Greene throwing a grenade near a car, causing it to explode and send deadly shrapnel throughout the air. One of which hits Rudy in his upper chest, sending him flying back and letting out a bellowing death wail.
