Samantha Samuels is a survivor of the outbreak in AMC's Fear the Walking Dead. She is a member of the Pioneers.

Overview

Compared to a lot of her fellow rangers, Samuels doesn't seem to be condescending and, at many points, is quite friendly to the members of Morgan's group. She seems to fear Virginia, as when Dakota goes missing, she begins to get nervous about what Virginia would do to her and Strand. Bobbie Grace revealed that she only became a ranger because Virginia promised to help her find her brother.

Season 6

"Damage From the Inside"

Samuels is one of the rangers alongside Victor Strand, escorting Dakota to a safe house. When Ranger Terry's horse suddenly comes galloping up to the convoy, Samuels and Stand ride ahead to investigate. They find a tree that was chopped down to block the road, and no response from Terry over the radio. Moments later, the horses of their fellow rangers stampede past them, prompting the pair to return to the convoy. They find the car empty and all of the escorts dead, having been murdered by Morgan Jones after they refused to defect from the Pioneers. Realizing how severely punished they will be if they return to Lawton without Dakota, the pair proceeds to begin a search for their leader's sister. Eventually, they come across Alicia and Charlie and recruit them to search for Dakota.

"Handle With Care"

Ranger Samuels accompanies Strand to Valley Town for a meeting with Morgan's group and the Outcasts on working together to face the uncertain threats of the Doomsday Cult. She first arrives outside the town gates on horseback alongside Strand, as Sarah arrives with Sherry and Rollie in the SWAT van. Inside Valley Town, she and the other visitors hesitantly hand over their weapons at the armory for security purposes. Later, she is at the wall when zombies start breaking in and prepares to help defend the settlement. At the end of the day, she and Strand return to Lawton, along with Daniel Salazar, who has been welcomed to move into the community as he copes with his trauma and memory loss.

"The Beginning"

Samuels' fate remains unknown following the doomsday cult's launch of warheads that caused major destruction throughout the state of Texas.

• In an interview, Bobbie Grace revealed that she and Colman Domingo established a background story for Samuels. Her character had a brother, and Virginia promised her to help find her brother if she agreed to become one of her rangers.
  • The same interview mentioned that her first name is Samantha, her wardrobe style was changed in "Handle With Care" to signify life in a post-Virginia era, and her horse's name was Lucky.
