Scott Gimple is an American television writer who serves as a writer and producer of AMC's The Walking Dead. He was the Showrunner from Season 4 to Season 8. He is currently the Chief Content Officer of the franchise. He also serves as a writer and the co-creator of World Beyond.

Biography[]

Gimple grew up in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, and graduated from Governor Livingston High School. He graduated from the University of Southern California's School of Cinema-Television. Following his graduation, he began working for Disney as a writer for shows like Fillmore, Timon & Pumbaa, and American Dragon: Jake Long.

He later became a writer on NBC's Life, Fox TV's Drive, and ABC's FlashForward. He also co-wrote the script of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance alongside Seth Hoffman and David S. Goyer.

In January 2013, following the departure of Glen Mazzara as showrunner, he became the showrunner from Season 4 to Season 8.

In January 2018, it was announced that Angela Kang would succeed him as showrunner for Season 9 while he would serve as Chief Content Officer for the whole franchise.
