Look, I had him. I had control. And it's his fault. I was aiming for the tires.
―Sergio to Fede[src]

Season 3

"La Ofrenda"

When Roberto and Justina arrive with Daryl and Carol, Sergio and other armed guards emerge onto the upper balconies of surrounding buildings and aim their weapons at the newcomers. He and the guards eventually put down their weapons at Federico's command as the Americans were granted a two-day stay in the village. Later, Sergio is among the crowd of villagers watching as Carol receives medical treatment from Marga. That afternoon, he walks by Roberto's home and sees him embracing Justina, to which he stares disapprovingly before moving on. He is also present when Guillermo Torres and his El Alcázar convoy arrive in Solaz del Mar and is ordered by Federico to subdue Jaime after the grieving father lashed out about his missing daughter's whereabouts, having lost her five years ago in an Ofrenda ceremony. Sergio then watches alongside many other villagers as Jaime is tortured in a public demonstration by Alcázar soldiers as Guillermo distributes weapons and food supplies to the villagers.

The following day, Sergio assists with the setup of the Ofrenda ceremony in the streets, including building the pens for the pig race and attaching collars to each of the six pigs. He and Gustavo open the starting gates of the race course as the Ofrenda ceremony is officially started. As the parade takes place in the street during the festivities, Gustavo walks past Daryl. That night, Sergio attends dinner in the town square with many neighbors and friends.

"El Sacrificio"

Accompanied by four armed El Alcázar soldiers, a furious Guillermo Torres storms into Fede's office, leaving two of his men to guard the door outside. Fede offers Guillermo his best cognac, but he's uninterested. Guillermo reveals that a few days before, some of his men were attacked and left for dead, having supposedly stopped at the river for water. Manuel got away, but he went missing the night before while everyone was celebrating along with two others. Sergio promises that they will send out a search party immediately, but Guillermo has already had his men searching all night.

Guillermo questions what kind of town Solaz del Mar is, having been shouted down by a man upon arrival, and the people openly question the Alliance. Fede reassures Guillermo that Carol is only passing through, and he tries to make her see that guests should not be so outspoken. In any case, Guillermo senses distrust and reluctance in Solaz, and it makes him wonder if the town is worthy of El Alcázar's continued protection. Fede promises Guillermo that Solaz values their place in the Alliance and appreciates the security and the gifts that El Alcázar offers. Guillermo demands that he prove it, threatening that otherwise El Alcázar will leave Solaz immediately and they may never return. "There are other towns, you know... With other girls." Fede kisses Guillermo's ring, and he drinks the cognac, complaining about the taste, before leaving.

Fede realizes that the El Alcázar soldiers were killed by the river, the same place that Daryl and Carol had saved Roberto and Justina from bandits. Suspecting that the two things are connected, Fede orders Sergio to see what he can find out, such as whether any vehicles were taken or if any horses are missing. Solaz needs to show that they take this matter seriously, and the sooner the Americans leave, the better.

That night, standing in the doorway of the mayor's residence with Fede and Marco, Sergio is among the residents gathered in the town square as they witness Justina being taken away by Guillermo and El Alcázar.
