This article is about the Smith & Wesson Model 3913 "Ladysmith". You may be looking for other similar named Smith & Wesson firearms.

The S&W 3913 "Ladysmith" was carried by Andrea Harrison until she was separated from the group in "Beside the Dying Fire". Afterwards it was used by T-Dog. According to Andrea, the gun was a gift from her and Amy's father for protection before they went on their road trip shortly before the Apocalypse began. The pistol is chambered with 9mm. The S&W Ladysmith and LadySmith are a series of handguns manufactured by Smith & Wesson starting early in the 20th century. Early models, branded Ladysmith, were .22 caliber.

Starting in the 1980s, under the slightly modified LadySmith moniker, S&W manufactured several short-barreled revolvers and semi-automatic pistols in .38 Special (S&W Model 36LS), .357 Magnum (S&W Model 60LS and S&W Model 65LS) and 9mm Parabellum (S&W Model 3913LS).

Pre-Apocalypse[]

Before the outbreak began, Andrea and Amy's father gave them one of the guns to protect themselves with when they left on a trip.

Post-Apocalypse[]

During the first months of the outbreak, Andrea carried the gun, although she didn't know how to properly use it. During her first meeting with Rick Grimes, Andrea threatened him with it, but Rick noticed that she had failed to turn the gun's safety off. While trapped together in the Bradbury's, Rick informed her of her mistake which became something of a running joke between them. Later, after Amy is bitten by a walker and turns, Andrea uses the gun to put her sister down.

After the events at the CDC, Shane teaches Andrea more about the weapon. Due to worries about Andrea being suicidal, Dale Horvath takes it away from her but returns it shortly. With Andrea proving to be an excellent shot during target practice, Rick and Shane switched her to using the more powerful Glock and Andrea abandoned all use of the gun. When the Greene Family Farm fell, the weapon was left in the hands of T-Dog. Over the course of Rick's group's time in the prison, T-Dog, Axel and Zach utilized the Ladysmith before each of their deaths.

Following Zach's death, the gun was last seen left on top of his grave where it presumably remains.

Trivia[]

  • As the gun was a gift from her father shortly before the Apocalypse, Andrea Harrison didn't actually know how to use it properly at first. In "Guts" she used it to threaten Rick Grimes with the safety on and he had to explain her mistake to her later. This moment was referenced by Andrea in "Wildfire" and "Welcome to the Tombs."
  • The gun was taken from Andrea by Dale Horvath in "What Lies Ahead" due to his worries about Andrea committing suicide, leading to tension between them. He eventually returned it in "Save the Last One."
  • In "Secrets", Andrea's weapons proficiency caused Shane Walsh to give her a better gun. As a result, Andrea abandoned use of the gun afterwards.
  • The only person Andrea is known to have killed with this gun is the zombified Amy Harrison in "Wildfire". In Season 2, when Andrea kills walkers, its with the gun that Shane gave her, including during the barn massacre scene.
