Stern is among the rangers with the lead ranger as they capture Daniel Salazar at the blockade surrounding the Tower. Stern and the other rangers bring the captive Daniel, as well as Alicia, to the Tower's lobby where they meet Strand and Wes. The lead ranger informs Strand of Daniel's actions at the blockade and how he almost broke Stern's neck when pushing through the barrier.
Stern's fate is left unknown after the assault on the Tower left dozens of rangers dead. If he was not killed during the raid, it is possible he escaped the Tower or became trapped as the building caught fire.
