This is a list of death comparisons in the TV Show/Comics.
The Walking Dead[]
Season 1[]
Amy Harrison[]
- In "Vatos", Amy is bitten on the arm and neck by a zombie. She reanimates in "Wildfire" and is shot in the head by Andrea Harrison.
Jim[]
- In "Vatos", Jim is bitten by a zombie, though this isn't discovered by the group until "Wildfire". As he slowly succumbs to the infection, he requests to be left on the side of the road to reanimate, so he could "be with his family".
- In the comics, Jim's death is pretty much identical, with the difference being the group realizing he was bitten immediately after the attack on the camp. Jim is also bitten on the forearm instead of the abdomen.
Season 2[]
Otis[]
- In "Save the Last One" Otis is left to be devoured by walkers after being shot in the leg by Shane Walsh.
- In the comics, Otis is devoured by walkers in the Prison. He is put down by Rick Grimes after reanimation.
Sophia Peletier[]
- In "Pretty Much Dead Already", Sophia is revealed to have been bitten by a zombie and reanimated, and is later shot in the head by Rick Grimes after reanimation.
- In the comics, Sophia is still alive.
Dale Horvath[]
- In Judge, Jury, Executioner, Dale is disemboweled by a walker on Hershel's farm and mercifully shot in the head by Daryl Dixon.
- In the comics, Dale dies much later during the group's conflict with the Hunters, after being sustaining a bite from a walker. He is shot in the head by Andrea before reanimation. His death is similar to that of Bob Stookey from the TV Series.
Shane Walsh[]
- In "Better Angels", Shane is stabbed to death by Rick Grimes, and is shot in the head by Carl Grimes after he reanimates.
- In the comics, Shane's death happens much sooner, roughly a day after the attack on the Atlanta camp. Instead of being premeditated like in the show, Shane's attempt on Rick's life is a "spur of the moment" event, brought on by Shane losing his mind due to several factors. Unlike the show, Shane is shot in the neck by Carl Grimes. After discovering that people reanimate regardless of the circumstances of their deaths, Rick travels to the Atlanta campsite to put Shane down, shooting him in the head.
Patricia[]
- In "Beside the Dying Fire", Patricia is devoured by walkers.
- In the comic series, she survives until the Governor's second attack on the prison, where she is shot in the head by the Woodbury army.
Season 3[]
Andrew[]
- In "Killer Within", Andrew is shot in the head by Oscar after leading a horde of walkers to the prison in an attempt to kill Rick's group.
- In the comics, Andrew runs away from the prison after Dexter is killed by Rick Grimes. He dies from unknown causes afterwards and reanimates. Later, he is shot shot in the head by Lilly Caul.
Lori Grimes[]
- In "Killer Within", Lori dies during a C-Section giving birth to Judith Grimes. She is shot by Carl Grimes before reanimation.
- In the comics, Lori survives giving birth to Judith, and isn't killed until the Governor's second assault on the prison, when she is shot and killed by Lilly Caul. This also results in the death of Judith, who is crushed by Lori's corpse, unlike the show where Judith is still alive.
Donna[]
- In "Made to Suffer", Donna is bitten on the arm by a walker and subsequently dies from infection. She is put down by Tyreese Williams before reanimation.
- In the comics, Donna's death happens sooner. While Rick and the group are exploring Wiltshire Estates, Donna is blindsided by a zombie and bitten on the face. She is then devoured when more zombies show up.
Axel[]
- In "Home", Axel is shot in the head by Philip Blake.
- In the comics, Axel is also shot in the head, though not by the Governor directly, but by the Woodbury Army. He is also killed a little later, during the second assault on the prison.
Ben[]
- In "This Sorrowful Life", Ben is accidentally shot in the shoulder by Merle Dixon.
- In the comics, Ben's death happens much later and under vastly different circumstances. Ben is shot in the head by Carl Grimes after he killed his twin brother Billy. His death is similar to that of Lizzie Samuels from the TV Series.
Dr. Stevens[]
- In "Welcome to the Tombs", Dr. Stevens is likely among the Woodbury soldiers massacred by Philip Blake.
- In the comics, Dr. Stevens is bitten on the neck by a walker as he attempts to escape Woodbury with Alice, Rick, and Glenn. He requests to be left to turn. He is later put down by Lilly Caul.
Allen[]
- In "Welcome to the Tombs", Allen is shot in the head by Philip Blake after he raised his weapon at the Governor for murdering the entire Woodbury Army.
Andrea Harrison[]
- In "Welcome to the Tombs", Andrea is bitten by an undead Milton Mamet, whom Philip Blake stabbed and left in a room with a tied-up Andrea. Rather than die from infection, Andrea chooses to take her own life by shooting herself in the head.
- In the comics, Andrea dies much later during the war with the Whisperers. While leading a giant heard away from Alexandria, she is bitten on the neck while saving Eugene. She eventually dies from infection and is stabbed in the head by Rick Grimes after she reanimates.
Season 4[]
Caesar Martinez[]
- In "Dead Weight", Martinez is devoured after being thrown in a pit full of walkers by Philip Blake.
- In the comics, Martínez is chased and run over by Rick Grimes with Dale's RV in order to prevent him from revealing the prison's location to the Governor. After being crippled, he is subsequently strangled by Rick. His death is similar to that of Bob Lamson from the TV Series. In the novels, he's later shot in the head by Lilly Caul.
Hershel Greene[]
- In "Too Far Gone", Hershel is decapitated by Philip Blake after Rick refuses to vacate the prison. In "After", he is put down by Michonne, who stabs him in the head.
- In the comics, Hershel gives up on life after his son Billy is killed during the second prison assault. He is executed by Brian Blake, who shoots him in the head.
Philip Blake[]
- In "Too Far Gone", Philip is stabbed through the back by Michonne Hawthorne, and is later shot in the head by Lilly Chambler as he lay dying.
- In the comics, Brian Blake is killed by Lilly Caul, who shoots him in the head and kicks his body into a group of zombies.
Joe[]
- In "A", Joe has his throat ripped out by Rick Grimes while holding the latter in a bear hug.
- In the comics, Andy (Joe's comic counterpart) dies in the exact same way.
Tony[]
- In "A", Tony is shot in the head by Michonne with his own gun when he is distracted by Rick killing Joe.
Dan[]
- In "A", Dan is brutally stabbed to death by Rick Grimes for trying to rape Carl.
- In the comics, Jud (Dan's comic counterpart) dies in the same way for the same reason, although the Marauder tries to run instead of surrendering like Dan.
Thomas Richards[]
- In "A", a man named Thomas Richards is confirmed to have been a Terminus member who died from unknown causes, long before Rick and his group could meet him.
- In the comic series, Thomas Richards dies from being shot to death by Maggie Greene.
Season 5[]
Albert[]
- In "Four Walls and a Roof", Albert is shot in the head by Rick Grimes.
- In the comics, Albert is brutally slaughtered by Rick Grimes, Andrea, Abraham Ford, and Michonne Hawthorne.
Mike[]
- In "Four Walls and a Roof", Mike is shot in the head by Rick Grimes.
- In the comics, Charlie, Mike's comic counterpart, is brutally slaughtered by Rick Grimes, Andrea, Abraham Ford, and Michonne Hawthorne.
Gareth[]
- In "Four Walls and a Roof", Gareth is hacked to death by Rick Grimes.
- In the comics Chris, Gareth's comic counterpart, is brutally slaughtered by Rick Grimes, Andrea, Abraham Ford, and Michonne Hawthorne.
Theresa[]
- In "Four Walls and a Roof", Theresa is bludgeoned to death by Michonne.

Bob Stookey[]
- In "Strangers", Bob is bitten on the shoulder by a walker. To spare Sasha from watching his slowly die, he decides to walk out into the woods, where he is knocked out by one of the Terminus remnants. He wakes up, only to discover his leg has been eaten by the Termites. When Bob reveals he's been bitten, Gareth decides to return him to the church. He eventually succumbs to infection in "Four Walls and a Roof", and is put down by Tyreese Williams before reanimation.
- In the comics, Bob is a former army medic living in Woodbury, who patched up the Governor after the latter endured brutal torture at the hands of Michonne Hawthorne. In the novel series, Bob continues to serve as the town's doctor following the second prison assault until his death of a heart attack. He is then put down by Lilly Caul before reanimation.
Tyreese Williams[]
- In "What Happened and What's Going On", Tyreese is bitten on the arm by Noah's zombified brother. His arm is sliced off by Michonne to stop the infection from spreading, but Tyreese dies due to blood loss anyway. He is stabbed in the head by Michonne before reanimation.
- In the comics, Tyreese dies sooner, during the second prison assault. He is decapitated by Brian Blake after Rick refuses to vacate the prison. His zombified head is later stabbed by Michonne Hawthorne. His death is similar to that of Hershel Greene from the TV Series.
Reg Monroe[]
- In "Conquer", Reg is killed when Pete Anderson accidentally slices his throat open with Michonne's katana.
- In the comics, Regina Monroe is killed when Peter Anderson slits her throat with a kitchen knife.
Pete Anderson[]
- In "Conquer", Pete Anderson is shot in the head by Rick Grimes after Deanna Monroe grants him permission.
- In the comics, Peter Anderson is shot in the head by Rick Grimes after Douglas Monroe grants him permission.
Season 6[]
Carter[]
- In "First Time Again", Carter is bitten on the cheek by a walker, and is stabbed in the head by Rick Grimes out of mercy.
- In the comics, Carter dies long before Rick and his group reach Alexandria. He is killed during the construction of the walls around Alexandria, as a result of Alexander Davidson's actions.
Richards[]
- In "JSS", Richards burns to death after being struck with a Molotov cocktail thrown by a Wolf. Later, he is put down by Maggie Rhee after reanimation.
- In the comic series, Richards dies before Rick and his group reach Alexandria, as a result of Tobin's actions.
Erin[]
- In "JSS", Erin is mortally injured when her abdomen is sliced open by Aphid. She is then mercifully stabbed in the head by Carol Peletier.
- In the comics, Erin doesn't die until the conflict with the Whisperers, when she is decapitated by Alpha. She is put down by Lydia.
Holly[]
- In "JSS", Holly is stabbed by a member of the Wolves and dies from blood loss. She is then stabbed in the head by Denise Cloyd to prevent reanimation.
- In the comics, Holly plays a much larger role and doesn't die until the war with the Saviors. Wanting to avenge Abraham, Holly drives a truck through the gates of the Sanctuary during the Militia's assault on the Savior base. She is saved by Negan and taken prisoner. She is eventually returned to Alexandria, but is revealed to be undead when the bag on her head is removed. She is put down by Rick Grimes, who shoots her in the head. Her death is somewhat similar to that of Sasha Williams.
Barnes[]
- In "Thank You", Barnes's throat is ripped open by a walker. He is stabbed in the head by Michonne to prevent reanimation.
- In the comics, Barnes dies before Rick and his group reach Alexandria, as a result of Tobin's actions.
Annie[]
- In "Thank You", Annie is unable to flee a herd of walkers due to her sprained ankle. She is devoured trying to fend them off.
- In the comics, Annie's status is unknown.
David[]
- In "Thank You", David is devoured by walkers after they pull him off the fence he was trying to climb. In "Heads Up", he is found reanimated by Glenn Rhee, who stabs him in the head.
- In the comics, David is never physically seen and his status is unknown.
Nicholas[]
- In "Thank You", Nicholas commits suicide by shooting himself in the head after being trapped with Glenn on a dumpster by a herd of walkers.
Betsy[]
- In "Now", Betsy commits suicide by slashing her wrists after discovering her husband David was killed. She is discovered reanimated by Jessie Anderson, and is stabbed through the eye.
- In the comics, Betsy is never physically seen and dies off-panel during the Saviors' bombing of Alexandria.
Deanna Monroe[]
- In "Start to Finish", Deanna is bitten by a walker and makes a last stand against the herd. She eventually reanimates and wanders out of Alexandria. In "The Next World", she is discovered by Carl and Enid, who lure her back to Spencer Monroe. Spencer stabs her in the back of the head.
- In the comics, Douglas Monroe was planning to commit suicide by feeding himself to the walkers. In the last second, he spots Rick and Carl in trouble and starts shooting at the walkers. As he is bitten several times, he misfires his gun and hits Carl in the eye. He is subsequently devoured.
Bud[]
- In "No Way Out", Bud and his group are blown up by Daryl Dixon with an RPG.
Jessie Anderson[]
- In "No Way Out", Jessie is devoured by walkers while refusing to let go of her son Sam, who is also being devoured.
Ron Anderson[]
- In "No Way Out", Ron holds Rick at gunpoint after witnessing Rick hack off Jessie's hand to save Carl. He is stabbed through the chest by Michonne, which causes him to reflexively fire his gun and shoot Carl's eye out.
- In the comics, Ron is devoured by zombies when he starts panicking and making too much noise. Carl's eye is accidentally shot out by Douglas instead. His death is similar to that of Sam Anderson.
Ethan[]
- In "Knots Untie", Ethan is stabbed in the throat by Rick Grimes while trying to kill the latter, after Rick tried to stop him from killing Gregory.
Donnie[]
- In "The Same Boat", Donnie dies from blood loss after being shot in the arm by Carol Peletier. He reanimates and bites Molly, before being stabbed in the head by her.
- In the comics, Donnie is killed in the latter stages of the war against the Saviors, when he is pushed off a roof by Eugene Porter.
Molly[]
- In "The Same Boat", Molly is bitten by a zombified Donnie and is subsequently bludgeoned to death by Maggie Rhee.
Denise Cloyd[]
- In "Twice as Far", Denise is accidentally shot in the back of the head and through the eye with a crossbow bolt fired by Dwight.
- In the comic, Denise is bitten on the wrist by an undead Holly. She declines having her arm amputated, so she could save Heath's life. She eventually succumbs to infection, and is put down by Michonne Hawthorne before reanimation.
Abraham Ford[]
- In "Last Day on Earth", Abraham is picked by Negan Smith to be executed. Negan smashes Abraham's head with his baseball bat, Lucille, off-screen.
- In the comics, Abraham is shot in the back of the head and through the eye with a crossbow bolt fired by Dwight. His death is similar to that of Denise Cloyd.
Season 7[]
Glenn Rhee[]
- In "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be", Negan Smith smashes Glenn's head with Lucille after Daryl attacks him.
Spencer Monroe[]
- In "Hearts Still Beating", Spencer is disemboweled by Negan Smith after he suggests Negan kill Rick and put him in charge. He soon reanimates and is stabbed in the head by Rick Grimes.
Olivia[]
- In "Hearts Still Beating", Olivia is shot in the face by Arat as retribution for Rosita trying to kill Negan.
- In the comics, Olivia dies much later during the conflict with the Whisperers, when she is decapitated by Alpha.
Emmett Carson[]
- In "Hostiles and Calamities", after being framed by Dwight, Emmett is burned to death when Negan Smith throws him into a furnace.
- In the comics, Carson isn't killed until the conflict with the Whisperers, when he is decapitated by Alpha. His head reanimates, and he is put down by one of the survivors.
Benjamin[]
- In "Bury Me Here", Benjamin is shot in the leg by Jared and bleeds out on Carol Peletier's table. He is put down before reanimation by Morgan Jones.
- In the comics, Benjamin is not killed by the Saviors and has an unknown status after the Whisperer War.
Richard[]
- In "Bury Me Here", Richard is strangled to death by Morgan Jones, and is later stabbed in the head by his killer before reanimation.
David[]
- In "Something They Need", David is stabbed in the neck by Negan Smith for trying to rape Sasha Williams. He is stabbed in the head by Sasha after he reanimates
Farron[]
- In "The First Day of the Rest of Your Life", Farron is thrown off a balcony by Michonne and falls to her death.
Season 8[]
Andy[]
- In "The Damned", Andy is shot to death by the Saviors while assaulting the satellite outpost.
Eric Raleigh[]
- In "Monsters", Eric is shot in the abdomen by a Savior while assaulting the Shephard Office Plaza outpost. He eventually dies from his wound and reanimates.
Mikey[]
- In "How It's Gotta Be", Mikey is killed off-screen during the Savior grenade attack on Alexandria.
- In the comics, Mikey is still alive.
Gavin[]
- In "Honor", Gavin is stabbed in the throat by Henry. He is then stabbed in the head by Morgan Jones before reanimation.
- In the comics, Gavin's status is unknown.
Carl Grimes[]
- In "The King, the Widow, and Rick", Carl is bitten by a walker while taking Siddiq back to Alexandria. In "Honor", Carl shoots himself in the head after saying goodbye to his friends and family.
- In the comics, Carl survives the entire duration of the series.
Harlan Carson[]
- In "Dead or Alive Or", Harlan is shot by a Savior after grabbing another Savior's gun.
- In the comics, Harlan's status is unknown.
Tobin[]
- In "Do Not Send Us Astray", Tobin is stabbed by Derek with a tainted knife. He dies from infection and reanimates, ultimately being stabbed in the head by Carol Peletier.
- In the comics, Tobin dies much earlier, during the herd attack on Alexandria. When the herd breaks through the walls, Tobin tells Holly to get help while he fends the roamers off. By the time Holly returns, Tobin is overwhelmed and devoured.
Wesley[]
- In "Do Not Send Us Astray", Wesley is injured by the Saviors with a tainted weapon. He dies from infection and reanimates, ultimately being put down by Daryl Dixon.
- In the comics, Wesley's status is unknown.
Crystal[]
- In "Do Not Send Us Astray", Crystal is killed off-screen, either by Saviors or zombies.
Bruce[]
- In "Do Not Send Us Astray", Bruce is injured by the Saviors using tainted weapons. He is mercifully put down by one of the survivors.
- In the comics, Bruce dies much sooner, during the herd attack on Alexandria. As the survivors are retreating into the safe-zone, Bruce is bitten on the neck. To end Bruce's suffering, Abraham caves his skull in.
Gary[]
- In "Worth", Gary is shot to death by fellow Saviors for conspiring against Negan Smith. His head is bashed in by Negan before reanimation.
- In the comics, Gary is blown up during the Savior bombing of Alexandria when Jesus catches one of the Savior grenades and throws it back.
Season 9[]
Kenneth Sutton[]
- In "A New Beginning", Ken is bit in the arm by a walker as kicked in the ribs by a horse and dies from the shock. He is put down before reanimation by Maggie Rhee.
- In the comics, Ken isn't killed until the conflict with the Whisperers, when he is decapitated by Alpha. His reanimated head is put down by Lydia.
Gregory[]
- In "A New Beginning", Gregory is hanged by Daryl Dixon on Maggie Rhee's order after he tried to kill her.
- In the comics, Gregory is hanged by Paul Monroe and Oscar on Maggie Greene's order after he tried to poison her.
Arat[]
- In "Warning Signs", Arat is speared in the back of the head by Cyndie for killing her brother.
- In the comics, Tara's, Arat's comic counterpart, status is unknown.
Bernie[]
- In "What Comes After", Bernie is bitten off-screen on the neck and partially devoured by walkers. In "Stradivarius", the now zombified Bernie is stabbed through in back of the head by Michonne.
- In the comics, Bernie is devoured after Eugene and the herd crew unknowingly redirect a large herd towards Magna's group.
Paul "Jesus" Rovia[]
- In "Evolution", Paul is stabbed through the heart by an unnamed Whisperer.
- In the comics, Paul Monroe is still alive.
Tammy Rose Sutton[]
- In "The Calm Before", Tammy is captured and decapitated by Alpha and the Whisperers. Her head is put on a pike by Alpha along with several others to mark the border Whisperers' territory. She is put down by one of the survivors.
- In the comics, Tammy's death is pretty much identical, with the only difference being the survivors who discover her.
Season 10[]
Brandon[]
- In "What It Always Is", Brandon's head is bashed in with a rock by Negan Smith after Brandon murders Amelia and Milo.
- In the comics, Brandon Rose is stabbed in the chest by Negan after he reveals his plan to make the Whisperers and Alexandria wipe each other out. He later reanimates and is put down by Dwight.
Siddiq[]
- In "Open Your Eyes", Siddiq is strangled to death by Dante after realizing the latter is a Whisperer spy.
- In the comics, Siddiq's status is unknown.
Dante[]
- In "The World Before", Dante is stabbed to death by Gabriel Stokes in revenge for killing Siddiq.
- In the comics, Dante is neither a Whisperer nor an antagonist. His status is unknown.
Laura[]
- In "Stalker", Laura is slammed into the prison bars of Alexandria's jail by Beta, breaking her neck.
- In the comics, Laura is still alive.
Earl Sutton[]
- In "Walk With Us", Earl commits suicide by bashing his head against a railroad spike after being bitten. Although Earl intended to drive the spike into his brain and thus prevent reanimation, he was only successful in splitting his skull open. He, thus, reanimated and was put down by Judith Grimes.
- In the comics, Earl is still alive.
Alpha[]
- In "Walk With Us", Alpha has her throat slit by Negan, who then decapitates her and brings her head to Carol. Her head is later recovered and put down by Beta.
- In the comics, Alpha's death is pretty much identical, although the circumstances of her death are slightly different. Negan doesn't lure Alpha away by claiming to have captured Lydia, but she instead approaches him after banishing him to sleep outside the Whisperers' camp. He also brings Alpha's head to Rick instead of Carol. In addition, Alpha's head is not known to have been put down afterwards.
Oscar[]
- In "A Certain Doom", Oscar is stabbed in the chest by a Whisperer.
- In the comics, Oscar is one of the pike victims.
Lucille Smith[]
- In "Here's Negan", Lucille commits suicide through overdosing on her meds and then suffocating due to a plastic bag over her head. She then becomes a zombie and Negan puts her down by setting his house on fire.
Season 11[]
Frost[]
- In "On the Inside", Frost is killed by Pope while being tortured for information. He is presumably later put down by Maggie, Elijah, Gabriel, or Negan.
- In the comics, Frost is a Commonwealth soldier who is left with an unknown fate.
Sebastian Milton[]
- In "A New Deal", Sebastian is bitten by a walker after Eugene shoves it off of Max and onto Sebastian. He later reanimates and is put down by Daryl Dixon.
- In the comics, Sebastian is still alive and is imprisoned for the murder of Rick.
Lance Hornsby[]
- In "What's Been Lost", Lance is shot in the neck with an arrow by Carol when he attempts to shoot her and Daryl. Lance later reanimates and is shot in the head by Maggie.
- In the comics, Lance's status is unknown.
Luke Abrams[]
- In "Rest in Peace", Luke is bitten on the leg and succumbs to blood loss following a failed attempt at saving his life with amputation performed by Magna.
- In the comics, Luke is one of the pike victims.
Rosita Espinosa[]
- In "Rest in Peace", Rosita is bitten on the shoulder and succumbs to the infection. She is then put down by Eugene before reanimation.
- In the comics, Rosita is one of the pike victims.
