This article is about Strand's boat. For other pages with the same name, see: Abigail

The Abigail is a location that appears in AMC's Fear the Walking Dead. It is a yacht owned by Thomas Abigail, Strand's boyfriend, and appears in Season 2 as a main location. It appears in the eighth episode of Season 3, "Children of Wrath", after the yacht was taken by the Mexican Navy border patrol and had become overrun by the undead. The yacht is no longer operational when Strand finds it, leading to him burning it.

The Abigail needs a certain depth of water to sail and therefore can't dock in many locations, notably most beaches. Access to the yacht is made most often by means of its Zodiac inflatable boat, seen often in the first half of Season 2.

Post-Apocalypse[]

Season 1[]

"The Good Man"[]

The Abigail can be seen along the shoreline from Strand's House. Strand intends to abandon his house and retreat to Abigail, for the safety of the water.

Season 2[]

"Monster"[]

The yacht is formally introduced during this episode. During the army's bombardment of the city of Los Angeles, the group hurriedly rushes for the boat. Strand is already aboard with Nick however some others were left on the shoreline, and Nick volunteers to go. After all the survivors have been picked up, Strand targets San Diego, California as the destination of the Abigail, however the plan goes somewhat awry after the introduction of a lifeboat full of survivors, prompting a lot of uncertainty regarding whether the group should have rescued the survivors. Nonetheless, the group continues onward to San Diego.

The end of the episode implies there is a hostile boat in the same territory as the Abigail, heading straight for her. Strand does not expect the Abigail to be capable of outrunning it.

"We All Fall Down"[]

The Abigail is still the main transportation and living quarters of the survivors. Daniel insists in remaining behind with Strand and Ofelia as the others explore Catrina Island's ranger station.

"Ouroboros"[]

Due to the undead Michael's hand getting caught, the Abigail has problems with its water intake system, leaving it stranded for most of a day while Travis repairs it and causing concerns about the group's safety. Later, Travis states that they can't remain in the yacht forever and that it is worth attempting to find a safe place inland, leading to his support for the decision to travel to Baja California.

The Abigail briefly tows Alex and Jake's raft, until Strand decides to cut the tow line.

"Blood in the Streets"[]

When a raft including Vida, a pregnant woman feigning distress, along with two of Connor's Pirates, Reed and Jack Kipling board the Abigail at night, following Ofelia and Chris watching the deck, as Chris contemplates shooting them. They then all temporarily hijack and take control, while Strand abandons soon before Reed, Jack, and Vida turn hostile towards them, hiding on a raft. Reed then punches Travis, as then Vida then pushes Madison against a glass mirror in the bathroom while attempting to help her. Alicia is the only one to recognize Jack's voice, much to the displeasure of Daniel, as his daughter Ofelia and everyone on board is then taken hostage the next morning.

Reed demands the key, threatening Chris at gunpoint, as Travis offers to start the boat without the key. The pirates take over the radio to signal Connor, as Alicia offers to go with Jack, on account she radioed him earlier. Alicia and Jack go out to the deck, as Alicia balks Jack for lying, despite Jack's reassurance he's not like Reed or Vida, and they're only doing this, as each is to their own.

Vida holds Madison, Daniel, Ofelia, and Chris in the lobby. Reed takes Travis to get the boat running from the bottom deck in the engine room downstairs, as Travis hides a crowbar in his coat. Alicia and Jack talk inside Alicia's room after Jack radioed and as he got Connor to arrive, as Alicia feigns for him and lies by telling him she'll contribute but only in exchange for protecting her family. Daniel gets Madison to distract Vida as he unties himself, with Madison taunting her about Vida losing her kid and if her child would turn as Ofelia chimes in on this as well, with Vida getting heated, hitting Madison with her gun. Reed arrives up as he still holds Travis at gunpoint. Meanwhile Reed pulls Vida away from Madison, as Travis and Daniel tell Reed to stop him from hassling Chris, as Reed is looking at them, he takes the crowbar and places it behind the couch cushions where Daniel is next to from the floor, before going upstairs with Reed, as the survivors watch on as Vida returns to oversee them.

Connor arrives on a boat, with him taking Alicia and Travis per his instructions by putting bags over their heads, much to the protest of Madison and C, leaving with himself, Vida and Jack , to his shore, as he leaves with Breannah and Ben, his pirates who arrived, to watch over them alongside Reed. As Nick and Luis Flores arrive via a speedboat raft, with Nick finding out and informing Luis of the hijacking, both Breannah and Ben are killed when going outside the deck to investigate by Luis sniping. As Reed is going outside, the group manages to overthrow him, with Daniel grabbing his gun, as Ofelia pushes him and hits his head against the door wall of the lobby, with Madison fatally stabbing him with the crowbar, as Chris then pushes Reed further. Both Luis and Nick arrive, as Madison urges to go rescue Travis and Alicia from the deck where they've been taken, as Luis tells them how they can't leave without Strand, who is on the raft floating, following being shot from the raft earlier, albeit despite surviving and losing his radio phone, who is rescued by Madison.

"Captive"[]

Back on the boat, Daniel tends to a still impaled Reed, who is tied and chaired in the bottom room, as Reed warns them of his brother coming for him and others. Daniel instructs Chris to watch over his door, as he talks to Ofelia. Meanwhile, Madison is steering and commandeering the yacht north to rescue Travis and Alicia alongside Daniel, despite protests from Luis about the additional costs of bringing the seven other survivors. Madison wants to get to Connor and use force and attack, but wants her son Nick and Chris to stay, despite Daniel's protest to her how they're not children anymore, due to their age as young men. Meanwhile, following Strand recovering from the day before and steering the ship, Madison doesn't want Strand to send him on any more errands, in fear that he's using again. Madison then tells Nick to not do any more jobs for Strand, despite Nick denying any wrongdoing.

Strand and Daniel are in steering and are close to arrival to Connor's deck. Reed then riles Chris, before Nick then arrives to shut the door as he asks Chris if he's ok, as Chris states he froze and blames himself for allowing them onboard, with Nick reassuring him it wasn't his fault. Back on the steering are Madison and Strand, Connor is radioing to Reed, before Madison radios to him to exchange his brother, Reed, for her family, Travis and Alicia, giving him one hour to do so, as Connor agrees. Nick volunteers to bring Reed to him. A gunshot goes off, as Strand, Nick, and Madison go down to investigate. Ofelia, who is down, asks Chris what happened, as Chris tells her how he was going to turn. Luis, Nick, Ofelia, and Strand stand to see Reed whose dead with his cheek blown off, as Madison comforts Chris, despite him having destroyed the chances of getting Travis.

As Ofelia and Nick clean the blood from Reed's room, he reanimates, as Daniel pins him to the wall with the crowbar he's impaled on and tells them not yet, due to having to go with the trade deal exchange. Daniel then puts a bag over his head and ties him, as Ofelia and Daniel take the restrained zombie Reed to shore. Madison takes the hostage Reed, on the Zodiac, and who tells Nick to stay behind, despite wanting to go. After rescuing Travis and Alicia, Madison takes them back to the Abigail, where Strand and Nick were watching them.

He subsequently becomes convinced that one of the boats in Manny's Salvage Yard is actually The Abigail and he demands to be taken aboard in order to find his daughter. Despite Luciana's attempts to convince him of the truth, Daniel forces Sage to take them aboard the boat which looks nothing like the yacht and does not have Ofelia on board. Enraged that he was lied to and manipulated, Daniel kills Sage and leaves Wes and Luciana behind to exact his revenge upon Arno.
