Join or die.
―The group's motto.[src]

The Brigade are a group of raiders encountered in Overkill's The Walking Dead. They serve as the primary antagonists of the second half of Season 1 and the whole of Season 2.

Post-Apocalypse[]

The Brigade was founded by Patterson in an attempt to create a world ruled by strict military order. They began raiding several communities, including the Family, giving them the option to either "join or die". After the Family failed to provide for the Brigade, they were all executed in a firing squad, except the Family's leader, Reina Torres, who was rescued by Anderson's Group. The Brigade would track them back to the Anderson Camp, killing Heather Campbell, several residents, and burning it to the ground.

The Anderson group and Reina would get the assistance of Sarah Bridger and kill Hurst at the Lincoln Memorial. Following Hurst's death, several Brigade soldiers would flee, but were hunted down for desertion and publicly executed. The only who wasn't was Richard Matthews, who was saved by the Anderson group, in an attempt to learn more about the Brigade. With Richard's help, the Anderson group learned of the existence of a man named Tanner Finn, who once tried to assassinate Patterson, but was caught and tortured, until he escaped.

After coming into contact with Tanner, he and the Anderson group would kill the remaining three Brigade commander, lead a final assault on Capitol Hill, and finally kill Patterson, putting an end to the Brigade once and for all.

Trivia[]

  • The Brigade is very similar to the Saviors. Both groups kill a member of an opposing group as a means to set fear into the hearts of everyone.
