The Family is an antagonistic group and later ally in Overkill's The Walking Dead. They serve as the primary antagonists of the first half of Season 1.

Post-Apocalypse

At some point after the outbreak "The Family" was formed. Reina became their leader however it is unknown whether or not she was from the beginning or stepped up. They came into contact with the Brigade who ordered them to join or die, meaning they had to supply the new faction with their own supplies or they would be killed.

To get supplies easier, they threatened the Anderson Camp to give them half of their food and other supplies they find. After Anderson declines and threatens to kill them, they leave. However they come back and start a miniature war with the camp where both infiltrate and try to steal from each other's bases.

After the Brigade come into contact with the Anderson Camp and the two make enemies, Reina offers peace between the two camps so they can take down the Brigade who had been oppressing them too. She introduces the group to her friend Sarah Bridger who also owns a community and the three groups wage war with the Brigade.
