The Gold 99 is a group of hostile survivors introduced in The Walking Dead: Onslaught.

Pre-Apocalypse

Nothing is known about the lives of individual members of the Gold 99 prior to or as the outbreak began.

Post-Apocalypse

At some point following the outbreak, the Gold 99 attacked the town of White Oak, Virginia, killing many of the survivors and soldiers for not paying tribute, and taking it over. They would do the same to another community and possibly many others.

However, one of the residents who's daughter was taken by the Gold 99, began hunting them all down and killing them.

"What Comes Before and After"

As Rick goes to look for Daryl, he comes across two zombified Gold 99, whom he quickly dispatches and later finds another Gold 99 member killed by Daryl.

"Around The Bend"

While traversing White Oak, Daryl finds many zombified Gold 99 members locked in cells.

"Roads Less Traveled"

While searching the Gold 99's old compound, Daryl is attacked by many walkers, some of which being zombified Gold 99 members.

Trivia

  • They are similar to several antagonistic groups that have been seen up to this point in the Television Universe.
    • They are similar to The Wolves in that they mark what areas they have attacked with a message, with it usually being "THE GOLD 99 WERE HERE".
      • They also tried to attack White Oak by driving a truck through their front gate.
    • They are similar to the Saviors where they demand tributes from whatever groups they are controlling and they take a picture of all their dead victims.
      • Unlike the Saviors where it is customary to only kill one person when tribute isn't paid, they seem to wipe out the whole community if tribute isn't paid.
    • They are similar to the Termites in that a portion of their compound is located on an abandoned trainyard.
    • They are similar to the Scavengers in that they create spiked armored walkers.
    • They are similar to both The Proctors and Savage Sons Motorcycle Club as it is hinted that they too were a motorcycle club before the apocalypse.
  • In "Roads Less Traveled", Rick questions why they never ran into the Gold 99 prior, Daryl suggests that they were smart enough to stay away from the Saviors, hinting that Gold 99 were aware of the Saviors' existence, but chose to avoid them.
