The Raiders are a group that appears in The Walking Dead: All-Stars.

Post-Apocalypse[]

At some point near the start of the apocalypse, several small survivors groups across the Buffalo, New York area linked up to form this group. Most of the individuals here are hostile and are willing to kill anyone they crossed. Furthermore, due to the hostility within the group, this often led to lots of in-fighting which often time led to group members killing each other. That being said, not every single member was hostile as some members just joined the group to survive. Furthermore, many of these less hostile raiders often ended up leaving the group in hopes of finding a safer home elsewhere.

Over time, the group was able to expand into as far north as Ontario, mostly along the Canadian-American border, and as far south as Georgia, somewhere around the Woodbury area. They've also have locations set up in Virginia. Despite all this, their main base of operation is still within the Buffalo, New York area.

At some point, the dispatch manager tasked former Raiders Crane and David to infiltrate the State University of New York at Buffalo and kill every raider they encounter, which they do. Although it severely weakens them, it didn't eliminate them completely.

The Dispatch manager sends a group consisting of Lake, Eva, Crane, Jeff, David, and Andrew to a nearby rendezvous point so that they can trade supplies with a nearby community located on Grand Island. When the group arrives at the rendezvous point, they notice that the scouts their supposed to meet up with are nowhere to be found. After some searching, the discover that the group was attacked by The Raiders. They decide to head towards the island to investigate the situation further. There they discover that one of the settlements has been attacked and its residents presumably wiped out during the attack. They also discover that they have military grade equipment.

The Raiders attack the Niagara Falls Community and the Construction Site Community and overtake the Niagara Falls International Airport; however after a heated standoff with the Asyl survivors, the airport raiders agree to drop their animosity and work on helping reclaim Buffalo. Despite this, there is still a small faction of Raiders who refuse to acquiesce and leave the airport community and continue to terrorize any remaining survivors in the area. Furthermore; there are also some members of the reformed Raiders who disagree with joining the Western New York Alliance, and specifically blame Asyl for their downfall, and thus wish to get revenge on them in any way possible. Because of this, those individuals decide to revert to their old way of life, joining a raider faction that located even more North of Buffalo, with the most notable group being led by a woman named Gina.

Over time, Gina is able to recruit several former raiders that had defected from the airport community such as Han and Alexis. She tells her raiders to keep track of what the alliance is doing, specifically in regard to the city's reclamation. Over time, she is able to contact two groups that she wants help from to eradicate the alliance. Eventually, the groups she contacted come to her as one larger group, led by Forest, and they form an uneasy alliance to help take out the alliance network.

It's later revealed that Forest and Gina have entered into a relationship together. Despite this, it seems that both groups have seemingly yet to merge; although it's also possible that Forest's Group is a smaller faction of the larger Raiders group.

Trivia[]

  • The Raiders control territory from Ontario to Georgia as they've wiped out communities on the Canada-America Border in Ontario and have attacked Woodbury which is in Georgia.
    • It's implied through Forest's Group that The Raiders also expanded westward up until Detroit, Michigan as well; however seeing as the Detroit and Cleveland groups, which subsequently merged to form Forest's Group, are the only known groups from that area and they journeyed to Buffalo at Gina's request, it's unknown if they still control any territory in that area.
  • Oddly enough, Rajesh's story notes the fact that The Raiders often trade with other groups; however, across every instance seen in the game, they are shown to be against trading and instead rob and kill people for supplies. It's possible that The Raiders are trading supplies between each other or that this was before they became an even more brutal and formidable force.
    • It's stated in Alexis' story that defector of The Raiders, such as those that live in Canada or those that reside at the Niagara Falls International Airport, are trading with other communities so Rajesh may have been referencing those communities; however, his story takes place well before those events occur.
  • This is one of seven original groups to confirmed before they are officially released in the game.
  • There seems to be a discrepancy regarding how The Raiders had formed and evolved in throughout the apocalypse.
    • It was initially stated by the Dispatch Manager, Crane, and David that The Raiders were formed South of Buffalo with their main base of operation being at State University of New York at Buffalo; however after the war that happened during the winter which included the elimination of the University, Bird Island Wastewater Treatment Plant, and the Grand Island Community and reclamation of the Niagara Falls Community, it was stated that The Raiders decided to set up base at the Niagara Falls International Airport.
    • The Construction Site Community Leader states that several communities in the Niagara Falls area agreed to help each other during the early days of the apocalypse, which included building up the airport so it can be a viable safe-zone for everyone; however, following the completion of the airport's construction, the Leader at the time was killed by Curt. Following Curt's ascension to leadership of the group, they became a much more violent and antagonistic presence in the surrounding area, and are claimed to have tried to expand South but had no success due to the war that had occurred during the winter.
    • It's possible that both the Asyl survivors and the Construction Site Community survivors had differing and/or limited information on The Raiders, especially because the group is so large, thus making it possible for both groups to be somewhat correct about the information they had. Because of this, due to there being several smaller groups of raiders that eventually joined the larger group of Raiders, it's possible that the Buffalo Raiders and the Niagara Falls Raiders were originally two different entities at the start before uniting into one.
  • There seems to be some ambiguity on what exactly is Forest's Group's relationship with The Raiders.
    • Initially, when they were two separate groups, they were just seen as allies.
    • After merging and being led by Forest, it's implied that they merged with The Raiders.
    • However, Gina and Forest seem to have had several discussions of merging both groups and co-leading it together, with Gina shutting the idea down every time due to how Forest's Group's views on killing other survivors.
    • Despite this, it's implied that some, if not all, of the members of Forest's Group are stationed out of the The Raiders' Library.
    • Furthermore, Gina refers to them as Forest's Raiders, implying that they may be part of the larger group of Raiders, but they are not part of her group of raiders.
  • There seems to be some ambiguity as to who the leader of The Raiders is after Curt's faction defected from the main group and joined the Western New York Alliance.
    • It's been implied that Gina is the leader of the Raiders; however, she has also stated that there are several more Raider groups up north, likely located in Canada.
    • Forest and Gina have discussed co-leading The Raiders together, but it's implied that they are only discussing leading their faction of Raiders as opposed to the larger Raider group.
    • Gina has tried to convince the Northern Raiders in helping with her endeavor to take down The Alliance; however, they continuously refuse to do so. It's unknown if their refusal comes from a lack of authority amongst the larger Raiders group, them not believing in Gina's cause, or a combination of both.
