The Trials refers to a period of time that lasted from the day the dead started to rise and hunt the living to the restoration of civilization after the death of Rick Grimes.
Most of the community members, especially the children, have never encountered a walker on their own. The survivors of the trials are very well appreciated and respected within the communities, particularly those close to Rick Grimes.
