The Walking Dead Television Universe, also known as the TV Universe, is a series of The Walking Dead media that is canon within the same universe as the original TV Series. The universe consists of seven television shows, three films, eight webisodes, three video games, and a podcast.

Shows

The Walking Dead

AMC's The Walking Dead is the original television series developed by Frank Darabont. The series consists of eleven seasons (177 episodes) and originally starred Rick Grimes as he sets out to find his family and encounters other survivors along the way. Midway through Season 9, Rick is taken away by members of a group known as the Civic Republic Military, causing the show to shift focus on the remaining members of the Survivors such as Daryl Dixon, Carol Peletier, and Judith Grimes for the remainder of the series. The series began on October 31, 2010 and is set to end in 2022.

Fear The Walking Dead

Fear The Walking Dead is the first spin-off series of TV Series developed by Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson. The show consists of eight seasons (117 episodes), the first three of which are set before and simultaneously with Season 1 and originally starred Madison Clark and her family as they adapt to the new post-apocalyptic world. Season 4 and onward take place after Season 8 (of the TV Series) and stars Morgan Jones leading a group of survivors to try to make the post-apocalyptic world a better place. Seasons 5 and 6 brought in Dwight and his wife, Sherry, respectively, to the main cast. Characters such as Rick Grimes, Carol Peletier, and Paul "Jesus" Rovia also make an appearance and the character of Beta makes a brief photographic appearance. Members of the Civic Republic Military have also been featured. The series began on August 23, 2015.

World Beyond

World Beyond is the second spin-off of the TV Series developed by Scott Gimple and Matt Negrete. Consisting of two seasons (20 episodes) and taking place between the six year time skip in Season 9 (of the TV Series), the series stars sisters Hope and Iris Bennett journeying into the zombie infected world for the first time to save their father. The series also explores more about the Civic Republic Military. Season 2 brought in Anne from the TV Series. The series began on October 4, 2020 and is set to end on December 5, 2021.

Tales of The Walking Dead

Tales of The Walking Dead is an upcoming anthology series developed by Scott Gimple. The series will follow individual characters from the TV universe, both new and old. It is currently scheduled to begin in 2022.

Untitled Daryl and Carol Spin-Off

The Untitled Daryl and Carol Spin-Off is an upcoming sequel to the TV Series developed by Scott Gimple. The series will star Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier after the events of Season 11 (of the TV Series). The series is set to begin in 2023.

Untitled Villain Spin-Off

The Untitled Villain Spin-Off is an upcoming prequel to the TV Series developed by Scott Gimple. The series will focus on the origin of a villain that appeared in the TV Series. There is currently no official release date and the villain that the series will focus on hasn't been revealed yet.

Untitled Comedy Spin-Off

The Untitled Comedy Spin-Off is an upcoming television series developed by Scott Gimple. There is currently no official release date.

Film Series

The upcoming Film Series will consists of three films starring Rick Grimes after being taken away by the Civic Republic Military in "What Comes After". The films will also feature Anne, and while not confirmed, it's possible the films will also feature Heath and Rick's wife, Michonne Hawthorne.

Film 1

The first film in the Rick Grimes movie trilogy.

Film 2

The second film in the Rick Grimes movie trilogy.

Film 3

The third and final film in the Rick Grimes movie trilogy.

Webisodes

The Webisodes are a series of short video clips following the stories of characters new and old in TV universe.

Torn Apart

Torn Apart is six part story starring Hannah. The story reveal Hannah's backstory before her zombified state in "Days Gone Bye". All six parts were released on October 3, 2011 and written by John Esposito.

Cold Storage

Cold Storage is a four part story which stars Chase as he tries to reach his sister in the early days of the apocalypse. The webisode is set prior to Season 1 (of the TV Series). All four parts were released by October 1, 2012 and also written by John Esposito. The Grimes Family (Rick, Lori, and Carl) and Shane Walsh make brief photographic appearances.

The Oath

The Oath is a three part story which stars Karina searching for an aid-station for her friend, Paul. The webisode is also set prior to Season 1 (of the TV Series), as it explores the origin of the "DON'T OPEN, DEAD INSIDE" door seen in "Days Gone Bye". All three parts were released on October 1, 2013 and written by Luke Passmore.

Flight 462

Flight 462 is a sixteen part mini series starring Jake Powell and Alex on a commercial airplane during the earliest moments of the outbreak, before their appearance in "Ouroboros". The first part was released on October 4, 2015 and the last part was released on March 26, 2016. The mini series coincides with "The Dog" as the character Nicholas Clark is briefly seen observing the plane's crash landing.

Passage

Passage is is a sixteen part mini series which stars Sierra and Gabi as they try to find sanctuary. The first part was released on October 17, 2016 and the last part was released on March 27, 2017.

Red Machete

Red Machete is a six-part story which stars Mandy and explores the origins of the red machete Rick used to kill Gareth. The first part was released on October 22, 2017 and the last part was released on April 9, 2018. All six parts were written by Nick Bernardone. The story also features the characters Joe and Tony before their appearance in Season 4 (of the TV Series).

The Althea Tapes

The Althea Tapes are a six part mini series starring Althea Szewczyk-Przygocki interviewing different survivors between the events of "Is Anybody Out There?" and "Channel 4". The first and second part were released on July 27, 2019 and the last part was released on August 8, 2019.

Dead In The Water

Dead in the Water is an upcoming digital series that will tell the story of a group, who owned the USS Pennsylvania seen in Season 6 (of Fear), fighting for survival.

Games

Dead Reckoning

Dead Reckoning is an interactive online video game starring Shane Walsh during the beginning of the apocalypse, after his partner, Rick, fell into a coma. The game was released on February 8, 2012. The game also features Leon Basset. The game is set before Season 1.

Survival Instinct

Survival Instinct is a first-person shooter video game developed by Terminal Reality and published by Activision, starring Daryl Dixon before the events of the TV Series. The game was released on March 19, 2013. The game also features Daryl's brother, Merle, it also features the parents of Andrea and Amy, Terry Harrison and Mrs. Harrison, as well as a voice cameo by Dr. Candace Jenner. The game is set before Season 1.

Onslaught

Onslaught is a VR game published by Survios. The game is set between Seasons 8 and 9 and stars Daryl Dixon as he journeys through uncharted territories to rescue a little girl named Daisy. Rick Grimes, Michonne Hawthorne, and Carol Peletier are also playable for supply missions. The game was released on September 29, 2020.

Podcast

Radio Waves

Radio Waves is a podcast series that ran from August 3 to October 3, 2016. It contained 6 different stories told across 15 parts. One story featured a character named Frank Swantek getting tricked by Jack Kipling, a member of the Pirates who appeared in Season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead.

Uncertainty

This is a list of media that occur during certain events of the TV Universe, but are not confirmed to be canon and/or feature too many inconsistencies to be deemed canon.

Social Game

The Social Game is a Facebook game released on August 9, 2012. It follows the player during events of the TV Series from Season 1 to Season 3. The game expands on characters such as Summer and The Living, however it is not confirmed if it's canon to the TV Universe as the game features many inconsistencies and the game was shut down on December 31, 2014.

Dead Run

Dead Run is a mobile game based published by Versus Evil. It consists of two seasons (8 episodes), taking place between Seasons 1 and 2 of Fear The Walking Dead. The first seasons consists of three episodes, each starring a different protagonists, while season 2 entirely focuses on a biker. Each episode focuses on the four protagonists during the fall of L.A. in the beginning of the apocalypse before their inevitable deaths. However, it's not confirmed to be canon.

Arcade

Arcade is an arcade game made by PlayMechanix and published by Raw Thrills on January 2017. It is set at the West Georgia Correctional Facility and follows several survivors occupying the prison as they attempt to escape when a horde rolls through the prison. It is uncertain when this takes place in relation to the occupancy of the prison by the survivors in the TV show as it features too many inconsistencies and is not confirmed canon.

Survival

Survival is an immersive attraction that allows guests to experience the events of "The Good Man" at Raynard Community College. Employees are dressed up as National Guardsmen, medical staff, and zombies as guests attempt to escape the overrun facility. It was open in Las Vegas in the Summer of 2017 and closed on April 14, 2019. Whether or not these events are canon have yet to be confirmed.
