• Hey, great job with your contributions to the wiki lately. I have another project regarding galleries if you’re up for it sometime.

    • Thank you! What about the galleries? :)

    • So basically, we need to remove the repetitive headers from these pages. I guess whoever set them up in the past had a vision of a single gallery page for a character before we ended up doing a gallery per character per medium. So as a result, some pages have redundant headings. For example, look at Anna (TV Series)/Gallery: why is the TV series heading needed when the page is ONLY for the TV series? It serves no purpose and creates redundancy. The proper structure should be the season in the main heading, followed by the episode as the subheading, similar to how I set it up at Barbara (TV Series)/Gallery. Hope this makes sense! Been something that needed fixing for years now.

    • Oooh, I see. I agree completely. The headers are unnecesary for the most part, but what about charcters that briefly appear in other mediums, like Beta whose photo can be seen on Fear, or Rick whose photo appears in the Webisodes?

        Loading editor
    • If there are multiple mediums on a single gallery page, similar to what you just mentioned, then those kind of headers can stay in my opinion.

        Loading editor
    • Maybe we can remove both, but leave the title of the particular webisode? And with Fear, we can remove the header, and just add brackets to the season the character appears in?

    • You can check out my Rick Grimes (TV Series)/Gallery edit to see what I mean.

    • I think that works - I just checked it out and it looks good!

    • Hey, so I noticed that Requests for Adminship are open again. I was just wondering how many admins the Wiki is looking to promote? Also, is there any particular reason new admins are being promoted, like is someone stepping down?

Hey, know this isn't directed at me, but figured I'd answer. Pastelhaxe stepped down, so we're looking for one (maybe even two) new admins. Please apply if you're interested!

    • I have another suggestion regarding the SimilarName template. So far, if a character has the same name as someone else, we'd add every other character with that name to the the SimilarName window. This can, however, get incredibly difficult with characters who have a name that's very common, like Paul for example. When a charcter or actor with a name as common as this gets added, it means going to every single character page with a similar name and adding the character, which can be quite time consuming, so most people don't do it. My solution would be to get rid of all these links in the window, and instead just link to the disambiguation page. Not only would this simplify editing any future pages, it would also give the disambiguation pages more of a purpose, since the way the SimilarName template is currently formated, there is really little point to them. Let me know what you think! :)

    • Ya know what, I do agree with that. It gets awkward when there’s soooo many names listed on a page. Might I add that we include the link to the disambig page as well as the direct counterpart of that page? For example, on Paul Rovia’s page, would would include the Paul disambig, and the Comic Series Paul since he’s the direct counterpart. Thoughts?

    • Sure, I guess we could do something like that. Although there is often more than one counterpart. Like for Jesus there is also his Video Game and RTS version.

    • https://walkingdead.fandom.com/wiki/Paul_Rovia_(TV_Series)?diff=1382440&oldid=1381390 So this is basically what it would look like. Thoughts?

    • I don’t think it looks bad, I sent this thread to the admin team on Discord to see what they say

        Loading editor
    • I like that way! Way more cleaner! :)

        Loading editor
    • The only problem is sometimes there isn't a counterpart, or every other character is a counterpart and there are no other characters of the same name. It looks really weird when there's nothing to fill up the other sentence. I'd rather just link to the disambiguation page, since it's already organised in a way where the counterparts are all listed under the same heading.

    • Alright, I think that's a fair point to just have it direct to the disambig page. I would change the wording so it reads like "For other pages with the same title, see: Paul" as opposed to saying "other characters" as that doesn't cover actors, crew, etc.

        Loading editor
    • Good point! I will change it to that. So after that, we're good to go?

        Loading editor
    • I just thought of something else. What do we do when there are characters whose counterpart has a different name? Like Tomas' comic counterpart is Dexter, for example.

        Loading editor
    • Okay, so I finally got the template to work in such a way that the sentence only appears if there is something entered in the field. So the "You may be looking for" part only appears if you enter counterparts in the second field, and the "For other pages with the same name, see:" part only appears if you enter that character's first name (no link required, it does it automatically) in the third field.
      Similar name 1 improved
       It should be good now.
