Title Screens are a recurring tradition in The Walking Dead. They usually appear during the beginning of the TV Shows or Games, to get the viewer excited. This page will focus on the Title Screens, as well as the Cold Opens for the Telltale Series and their differences.

Telltale Series

The Walking Dead: Season 1

"A New Day"

When the player starts the game, they are presented with a black screen. On this black screen, it says "TELLTALE GAMES presents" followed by "in association with SKYBOUND ENTERTAINMENT", and then the title screen begins, with the logo for the first season in red quickly popping up on the screen followed by the ominous classic music for the season. After this the episode properly starts.

The list of credits are as follows:

Dave Fennoy as Lee Everett

Melissa Hutchison as Clementine

Gavin Hammon as Kenny

Cissy Jones as Katjaa

Max Kaufman as Kenny Jr.

Nicki Rapp as Lilly

Terence McGovern as Larry

Nicole Vigil as Carley

Sam Joan as Doug

This is the first episode to feature credits for all of the previous aforementioned characters.

"Starved For Help"

The episode opens with Lee and a man named Mark out in the woods attempting to hunt for some food. Along the way, they hear someone screaming and run to investigate, believing it to be Kenny. They find a group of three people in desperate need of help; David Parker, who is caught in a bear trap; and two teenagers, Ben, and Travis struggling to get him out. Kenny arrives, and everyone frantically tries to decide what to do next. Soon enough, the walkers hear the screams and the group is faced with the problem of how to free David. After checking the bear trap itself and finding out that it is been tampered with to not have a release latch, Lee can either chop Marks leg off, to release him, or leave him behind. After this, either Travis, or David Parker get devoured by walkers, and the screams lead to the title screen, revealing the logo for the first season in red quickly popping up on the screen followed by the ominous classic music for the season.

The credits remain the same.

"Long Road Ahead"

When the player starts the game, they are presented with a black screen. On this black screen, it says "TELLTALE GAMES presents" followed by "in association with SKYBOUND ENTERTAINMENT", and then the title screen begins, with the logo for the first season in blue, quickly popping up on the screen followed by the ominous classic music for the season. The Stranger, the man who kidnapped Clementine, contacts Lee through Clementine's radio saying that Clementine is "fine", and that Lee should choose his words very carefully. After choosing your option from the end of "Around Every Corner", Lee realizes that she is somewhere else in the city. Lee continues to search the morgue that Vernon and his group took shelter in, Lee looks for some tools and finds a rib spreader. After using the tool on the elevator, Lee passes out from the bite's infection. The screen then goes black. showing the title for the episode over a plain background.

Later, in the episode, Lee can give her advice, such as telling her to avoid cities, go with Omid and Christa, remain on her own, or keep her hair short. It is shown Clementine will remember his advice (this being a likely hint to a future installment). They say their final goodbyes, and Lee, with a great amount of sadness, can either have a distressed Clementine shoot him or leave him to reanimate. Afterwards, the episode ends, and the screen goes to black revealing the title screen in showing a different logo in white.

The credits remain the same.

"400 Days"

The episode begins showing a normal, fully-functioning gas-station, with cars driving by. The Walking Dead: Season 2

"All That Remains"

Eight months after the events of "No Time Left", Clementine is traveling with Omid and a visibly pregnant Christa after presumably reuniting outside of Savannah. Stopping at a public restroom next to Gil's Pitstop, the trio discuss the name of Christa's unborn child before deciding to clean up. After heading into the female restroom, Clementine puts her gun down and begins to clean herself up but accidentally drops her bottle of water and heads into a stall to retrieve it. After retrieving it, she hears someone coming in. Having left her gun by the sink, Clementine stays in the stall as the stranger, Michelle, retrieves the weapon. However, Clementine accidentally makes a noise, causing Michelle to coax her out at gunpoint and demand that Clementine hand over her possessions. Suddenly, Omid enters the room and realizes what is going on. He takes a stealthy approach and sneaks toward Michelle, but the door closes loudly, causing Michelle's reflexes to turn and shoot, killing Omid. Christa suddenly runs in while Michelle immediately drops the gun and apologizes. Christa ultimately kills her with a shot to the abdomen before cradling Omid's body. Carver is talking to an unknown individual back at his camp over his walkie-talkie, telling them to prepare for the arrival of both the old and new prisoners, and that tensions may run high. Mentioning that they should be back within 30 minutes, Carver commands Troy to restrain Clementine and Sarah's hands and get them back on the truck. While Troy is busy tying Sarah's hands, Carver will warn Troy to not waste fuel in order to keep the truck's heater running, while Clementine knowingly eavesdrops on the conversation. Carver will turn and notice Clementine doing so, and tells her that listening in upon someone else's conversation is not polite. Clementine has two options which Carver's reaction differs. If she chooses to just glare at Carver or talk back to him, Carver will slap Clementine to the ground, telling her not to test him. Sarah will shout out Carver to stop, and to not hurt her friend (if they are friends). If Clementine apologizes to Carver, he will accept her apology, chalking it up as a "lesson learned". The Walking Dead: Michonne

"In Too Deep"

The episode begins with an exhausted Michonne, wrecked by the guilt related to the abandonment of her two daughters, wandering aimlessly through a small forest. As she navigates through the bushes, she is caught off guard by the apparitions of her two daughters, who run off further into the forest. Michonne warily follows them, and the lines between reality begin to blur as Michonne enters a hallucinatory state. Michonne fights, and kills, a group of walkers.

Michonne falls to her knees, seemingly defeated. Pulling out a revolver and a single bullet, Michonne loads the gun before putting it to her head, contemplating suicide. The player is then given the first choice of the series. No matter what the player chooses, Michonne survives. The title screen then begins.

Due to this game being separate from Clementine's story, it has its own separate title screen, and cast. In this title screen, the song "Gun In My Hand" by "DOROTHY" is playing while we see a montage of the following:

(CONTENT/TRIGGER WARNING)

  • Silhouettes of walkers roam in front of the image of Michonne killing more walkers from the first panel of page 5 of Issue 19.
    • Over that, the in bold, "TELLTALE GAMES PRESENTS", slowly fades in.
  • We then, transition to Michonne in a still pole, swinging her katana. Through Michonne, we can see the image of the second panel of page 20 of Issue 28, where Michonne is set up by Bruce Cooper to be raped by the Governor, with "IN ASSOCIATION WITH SKYBOUND ENTERTAINMENT" appearing after.
  • The logo for The Walking Dead: Michonne then appears, and splits in half, over a few panels of various issues of the comic series; the first panel of page 12 of Issue 28 on the top left where Michonne bit off the ear of the Governor, the fifth panel of page 19 of Issue 52 on the bottom left where Michonne gives Rick a look, after a talk of theirs, and lastly TBA on the right where TBA.
  • We then move to a screen showing the right side of the face of a walker with various panels from page 11 of Issue 28 in an out of sequence order visible through the head.
  • We then transition, to the scope of a rifle, targeted at Michonne in her cloak, from the second panel of the third page of Issue 19. Behind the scope, the full 10th page of Issue 72 is visible on the left, and the full 11th page of Issue 72 is visible to the right. These two pages, show a montage of horrific memories belonging to Michonne relating to her katana, as she puts on the mantle of her home.
  • After this, grey six grey walker silhouettes can be seen rising up.
    • Interestingly, these six walkers are walking in the stereotypical style of George Romero's, Night of the Living Dead.
      • Ironically, this seems like one of the only instances a zombie from the The Walking Dead universe walks in this position, albeit in a title screen.
  • We then get to see a close-up of Michonne's face with her model from the game, and her eyes slowly open to show a stone-cold look. Behind her, the second panel of page 25 of Issue 75, can be seen, where Michonne punches Rick for threatening the people of Alexandria.
  • Then, various panels from Issue 33 where Michonne mutilates the Governor, can be seen strewed across the Mobjack seen later in the game.
  • Once again, after this, Michonne can be seen in a still pose swinging her katana, with the sixth panel of page 5 of Issue 73, where Michonne leaves Morgan's house in a fit, the day after having intercourse.
  • Then, the first panel of page 12 of Issue 75, where Michonne and Rick discuss Peter Anderson, while sitting on a bench is stroped over the sail of the boat, the Companion, that is a prominent location in the game.
  • Michonne's brutally beaten, bleeding face from the third panel of page 7 of Issue 29, can be seen behind smoke coming out of the Fairbanks Residents, that is more prominent later in the game.
  • Lastly, the model of Michonne can then be seen leaning over, and pouting over the loss of her daughter, Elodie, and Colette, while the shadows of them holding hands can be seen in front of her.
  • After this, the game finally begins.

Will is about to shoot off the walkers when he himself is surrounded. He attempts to fight his way through the walkers, but is ultimately disemboweled. Jess Collins arrives after he hears the screams. Jess is stunned, and is bitten on the arm by a walker. He kills the walker and Daryl shows up at the scene.
