Tom Blanchford is a survivor of the outbreak in Skybound Entertainment's Comic Universe. He is a minor character in Thomas Dunne Books' The Walking Dead and a minor antagonist in Image Comics' The Walking Dead. He is a resident of Woodbury and a member of the Woodbury Army.
He is described as "a big mechanic from Macon", he is "a tall, rangy man with a shaved head".
Pre-Apocalypse[]
Macon, Georgia[]
Nothing is known about Tom's life prior to or as the outbreak began except he was a mechanic from Macon.
Post-Apocalypse[]
Woodbury, Georgia[]
At some point after the outbreak began, Tom became a guard in Woodbury. The Governor often saw Tom on Martínez's crew, but never bothered to learn his name.
Made To Suffer[]
Tom is first seen during a flashback in Issue 43 standing among the Woodbury Army before they begin their assault on the prison. He survives the first attack and retreats along with the rest of the militia. After the Governor orders the tank to drive over the fences, Lilly Caul turns around to see the remaining members of the militia coming out from behind the vehicles with their guns raised and ready. Tom has his back pressed against the side of his flatbed and urges his fellow soldiers to follow him inside the prison and finally put the evil inhabitants of this place out of their misery. Tom and six other surviving members of the Woodbury militia weave between the vehicles and make their way across the battlefield, over the mangled chain link fence, and into the prison.
Tom busily fires his assault rifle at the barred windows of the nearest building when the Governor approaches him and orders him to gather several men together and lead them inside the prison to find any survivors trying to hide. Tom obliges and asks what it is Philip wants him to do with them. Philip angrily orders him to waste them. Tom nods and runs off towards the other gunmen.
Tom and another soldier open fire on Hershel, Billy and Patricia who are behind cover. The Governor approaches Tom and orders him to gather several men together and lead them inside to kill any survivors trying to hide. Tom obliges and gathers a small group.
At dawn the next day, after Lilly killed the Governor, Lilly notices the prison corridors are quiet and free of the dead. She takes Austin Ballard, Matthew Hennesey and Ben Buchholz with her to look for anything useful where the group comes across the remains of Tom and two other men who were sent into the prison the previous afternoon. They now lie torn to shreds on the tiles, their torsos and extremities so mutilated that they’re unrecognizable as men. Their drying blood coats the floor and walls.
