Tommy attends the meeting at Deanna's house regarding how to handle the mega herd at the quarry. In the following days, he is among the volunteers to help build the wall on one of the roads to deter the mega herd in the operation to lure it away from Alexandria. When the walkers break free from the quarry and the plan is set into motion, Tommy heads out to his assigned location.
While in the woods, Tommy hears someone calling out for help, prompting him to turn back to find the source of the cry. However, he trips in the woods and severely injures his leg. He manages to make his way back to the road but is overcome by some walkers. A short time later, Rick finds Tommy's body and prevents him from reanimating.
