- Daniel Salazar apparently dies when he sets the Abigail Vineyard on fire. (Shiva) However, Daniel survives and makes his way to the Gonzalez Dam where he is eventually reunited with Victor Strand who is surprised but relieved to see that Daniel had survived. Daniel explains to Efrain Morales that he snapped out of his delusional state in the middle of the fire after hearing Ofelia's voice calling out to him. Despite being surrounded by the fire and the celling collapsing around him, Daniel managed to fight his way out, although he's not sure how, leaving Daniel with burn injuries and a fear that he had killed Ofelia in the fire. (TEOTWAWKI-100) Daniel later tells Strand that he was spared, although Daniel doesn't know why. Daniel suggests that maybe it was the Devil who spared him so that he would continue to stay in Purgatory with Strand. (Burning in Water, Drowning in Flame)
- Madison's Group apparently presumes Daniel to have perished in the destruction of the dam as Strand is surprised to find him alive years later. (Sleigh Ride, Here to Help)
- Alicia, Luciana and Strand tell John Dorie that June had died when the Dell Diamond Baseball Stadium was destroyed, much to his grief. (Buried) The group is shocked when June is revealed to be alive and with the Vultures at Ashburn Race Track. (Just in Case-The Wrong Side of Where You Are Now) June later explains that she had run back inside the stadium to get medical supplies while everyone else fled, but was forced to flee herself when the stadium became overrun by walkers, joining the Vultures for survival. - June reveals that she had thought that her friends had all perished when the stadium fell. (No One's Gone)
- Cole, Douglas, Vivian and the other stadium residents all apparently die while trying to flee when the stadium falls to the Vultures, leaving Nick, Alicia, Luciana and Strand as the only survivors of the community. (No One's Gone) Years later, Alicia unexpectedly encounters Cole again who reveals that most if not all of the residents had actually made it out thanks to Madison, although a number of them were killed by another hostile group a few weeks later. The survivors became a group of bandits that are killed by their own reanimated victims while trying to kill Alicia, Dakota and Teddy. (Mother)
- After Grace falls ill, it's feared to be Grace's radiation exposure catching up to her leaving Grace with not much time to live. Even using an ultrasound machine, Grace's friends are unable to determine the source of her illness. However, much to the shock and delight of Morgan Jones, Grace is discovered by Dr. Holt to be pregnant and malnourished instead of being terminally ill. (Today and Tomorrow-End of the Line)
- Morgan is shot by Virginia and left for dead as a small herd approaches him in Humbug's Gulch, apparently leading to his demise. (End of the Line) However, Morgan is rescued by what is later revealed to be Dakota. (The End Is the Beginning, The Door)
- John is shocked to find Morgan still alive at McNeill's Bait & Beer, explaining that everyone had heard the shot the night at Humbug's Gulch and assumed that he had died. (The Door)
- Following an attack by the Doomsday Cult, Grace stops breathing and apparently dies before unexpectedly reviving after Morgan had stopped his efforts to resuscitate her. (In Dreams)
- Strand abandons Morgan to fight several zombified USS Pennsylvania crewmembers on his own, leading to his apparent demise. However, Morgan somehow manages to survive and single-handedly beat the walkers, returning just in time to save Strand from Dakota. (USS Pennsylvania)
- When Teddy's Secret Bunker collapses on them, it appears like John Dorie Sr. and June are going to perish. After John awakens in Strand's Tower, June explains that their gas masks had kept them from suffocating until Strand's Rangers had found and rescued John and June. (Cindy Hawkins)
- Alicia unexpectedly survives the infection from her walker bite that had been plaguing Alicia for months and brought her close to death. (Amina) June later attributes Alicia's ability to fight off the infection for so long to Alicia having been previously exposed to high levels of radiation, although she was unaware that Alicia had actually survived her illness in the end. (Blue Jay)
- Having apparently sacrificed herself to allow her family to escape when the stadium was destroyed, (No One's Gone) Madison Clark unexpectedly survives, although the fire that she had started leaves Madison with lung damage and the need to use an oxygen tank occasionally. When asked how she had survived by Morgan, Madison simply quips that "I'm full of surprises." (Gone)
- Daniel is shocked to see Madison again almost 12 years after their last meeting, having heard of her supposed death, although Daniel admits that he had often considered the possibility that Madison was still alive. Daniel wryly notes that "it looks like we all have nine lives." (Odessa)
- June is shocked to see Daniel alive after reuniting with him 7 years after they had first arrived at PADRE, having apparently believed Daniel to have perished due to PADRE abandoning him because of Daniel's age. (Odessa)
- Troy Otto is apparently killed by Madison when she bashes him twice in the head with a hammer followed by his body getting washed out in the destruction of the Gonzalez Dam. (Things Bad Begun-Sleigh Ride) Over a decade later, much to the shock of Madison and Strand, Troy is revealed to have survived. Troy explains that he had survived the blows to his head, although they had left Troy blind in one eye. (Anton) Troy was then rescued from the dam's rubble by his future wife Serena. (Iron Tiger)
- Madison's Group are shocked to learn from Troy that Alicia had actually survived her bite infection, but Troy claims to have killed Alicia since then. (Anton-Iron Tiger)
- Upon being reunited with Madison, a shocked Luciana comments that had Madison died a long time ago. Madison quips that "I've been getting that a lot lately." Charlie is similarly shocked to see Madison still alive. (Iron Tiger)
- Seven years after leaving Texas, Charlie is revealed to still be alive despite having seemingly been terminally ill from radiation poisoning. Charlie explains that, unlike June at the Tower, PADRE had what they needed to cure her illness. (Iron Tiger)
- After being saved by Alicia's Followers driving the SWAT van, Strand initially thinks that Ada is Alicia. (Keeping Her Alive)
- Ada reveals to Strand that Alicia's fever had stopped and, after going back to the Tower, Alicia had found dozens of survivors who had responded to Alicia's message and lost hope when they saw the Tower on fire. By going back into the Tower and taking fuel from the basement generators, Alicia was able to drive everyone out of the nuclear wasteland in the SWAT van. (Keeping Her Alive)
- Having watched Madison's interview with Al so many times that the tape eventually wore out, Ada, Della, and Sara are in awe to find their idol still alive and to have the chance to meet her in person. The group had believed Madison to be dead until they had heard her message on the repeater network. (Keeping Her Alive)
- Ben Krennick reveals to Madison and Troy that Madison had survived the destruction of the stadium by climbing into the stadium's water truck which had been parked near the gate by Douglas in an attempt fight the fire that the Vultures had started outside. Having heard Madison's last message to her kids, Shrike and Ben had found and rescued her from the truck, knowing that if Madison was willing to sacrifice herself to save her kids, then she'd be willing to do anything for them which Shrike and Ben could use to manipulate Madison to do their bidding. - Russell reveals to Madison that Alicia might actually still be alive as Russell had lied to Troy about finding her dead following a fight between Alicia and Troy that had left them both seriously wounded. (The Road Ahead)
- After Tracy Otto shoots Madison, the little girl believes that she had killed her with even Madison believing that she was dying. However, Madison survives because Alicia's St. Christopher's medallion stops the bullet. (The Road Ahead)
- Madison is once again believed to have died, this time sacrificing herself to destroy a herd so that everyone at PADRE can escape. However, Madison survives the fort's destruction, having taken cover in her old cell, and she is rescued from the rubble by Tracy. Tracy tells Madison that the oxygen tank that Madison was wearing had kept Madison from suffocating to death until Tracy could dig her out. (The Road Ahead)
- Much to Madison and Alicia's mutual shock, they are both reunited with each other, particularly as Alicia had believed her mother to be dead for nearly a decade. Alicia explains that she had survived Troy's attack, but chosen not to reveal that she was still alive to everyone. Alicia had tracked her mother down after hearing the story of what had happened at PADRE and what Madison had done. (The Road Ahead)
- While the rest of Madison's group believes her to be dead, Madison and Alicia leave Strand a blue bonnet as a sign that they're still alive and allow Strand to glimpse them in his truck's mirror. (The Road Ahead)
