Walking Dead Wiki

Quick little blog while I have something interesting cooking for y'all with wiki admin and fellow biased comic fan and m8 GhostWolf716. Should be a BIG topic (File:Dom head.pngYesss...) so stay tuned in the next few weeks, if... you know... you care about that.

Meanwhile I'll present to you something that seems so obvious, yet the community on this website seems to ignore: We do not need four or five different blogs about Issue 167. I don't care if you're bitching about it or deffending it, there's literally no reason to make a second blog on the topic if there's already one out there.

This discussion is a little late because, frankly, the flamewar about Issue 167 has already died down and no one really cares about the discussion anymore, but the point still stands. After I made my rant blog, FOUR other blogs on the topic emerged. An issue review, which is to be expected, but the other three were just users giving their opinions on the matter. WHY?

What exactly do you have to say that, in your head, warrants a totally different blog post to be created? Blogs already have comment sections, where the discussion usually takes place. Why fragment the discussion about THE EXACT SAME THING by creating a new blog where you say something that could have easily been said on the comments of the first one?

You're not only hurting the discussion, but you're taking the limited space on the main page, that only supports three blogs at a time. And surprise: The tsunami of Issue 167 blogs did not only hurt the discussion about 167, but also a very important discussion about the wiki itself and how we operate, namely the idiotic craze about background characters some of our members have. (Yes, I am calling you out on this. You know who you are, and you know background characters do not matter at all. Stop being a creep and lurking through extras' Instagram and Facebook profiles).

This blog was essential to the community, with almost every active admin contributing to the discussion, and even most of the other staff, and proposed an important change on the way the wiki operates... And yet it was shoved off the main page by the bazillion of Issue 167 blogs, which became gradually less relevant as 1). time went on and people moved on to other things, 2). the discussion already happened and anyone who had something to say had already said it, 3). nothing new was being added to the topic. The only thing the 167 blogs after the first one accomplished was to start a flamewar between a troll and the admins, which in turn resulted in a ban.

And while that was happening, surprise! People forgot about the actually important discussion. I haven't been as active these past couple of days thanks to personal stuff, but from what I see the "background character purge" as I like to call it just... stopped. Thanks a lot, guys.

Anyway, as I said, this was just a quick update on something that bothered the hell out of me. I intended to post this earlier (when, you know, the issue was still relevant), but personal problems got in the way. Any discussion is welcome in the comments down below, so please feel free to speak up. See you next time with my collab with Ghost, which will hopefully come out soon.

AHBYE!
