Oh boy.

One issue. One simple issue, that's all it took for me to already hate THE PRINCESS and want her to die. That's gotta be a record break of some sorts, I reckon. Not even Alpha and Beta, the two absolutely saddest attempts at making intimidating and spooky antagonists I've ever seen were this quick to anger me in such a personal level. I still hate Alpha and Beta way more than the Princess but at least grew to hate those two over a gradual period of time, the Princess is just an atomic bomb of shit being dropped on a ship that's already sinking in a sea of crap.

Normally an issue review blog would talk about, you know, the issue? But since Robert Kirkman just LOVES the Princess so much he dedicated an entire issue just to introducing her, complete with a spread page of her first appearance and another page dedicated entirely for her super memorable first ever line ("'Sup?"), I'm guessing all there is to talk about is the character of Juanita Sanchez.

First off, that name. No Robert, I'm sorry. You just can't name someone "Juanita" and expect people to take that character seriously, especially if you give her such an stereotypical last name. Maybe that was the point? Since she's clearly a COMIC RELIEF character, you're not supposed to take her seriously?

Second, what the fuck is this personality? The Princess seems like something you would see in an anime, or a western cartoon desperately trying to be an anime. She acts just like Jackie Chan's niece from that cartoon he had back in the day. Anyone remember that? Or better yet, she acts exactly like the acrobat girl from the bad girl trio from Avatar, and everyone just loved that didn't they? I'm not sure why Kirkman would even feel the need to add such a hard to pull off type of character this late into the series, but alright.

Third, her weird fucking lines. "Please call me Princess, because Queen makes me sound old", "What's the capital of Pennsylvania?", "I'm a little loopy and probably seem totally kooky" (the ERB gif that never was), not to mention she unironically (OOOOOOOOOHHHHHH) calls people "meanies" and goes on this weird tangent about minorities and how the scouting group only has two white people and only two men, like dude why the fuck is this in the story? Why do your audience, who has sat through over 170 issues, over the course of over a decade, need this incredibly ham-fisted rant about the usage of the word "minority"? Is this really how far you've fallen, Kirkman? You have done social commentary in a smart way before, what is this garbage now? Also, yeah super smart to troll the five people pointing guns at you, dumbass.

In conclusion, I already hate the Princess, she does not fit at all in the world of The Walking Dead, and I already want her to die, which sadly will not happen anytime soon because Kirkman has mentioned in the letter hacks how "important" she will be later on.

Also the Siddiq and Eugene confrontation was lame as fuck. Just like everyone predicted Siddiq was going to be the baby daddy, everyone also predicted Eugene was going to do fuck all and just pull a cheesy "I forgive you" act just like TV Tyreese in that episode everyone pretends it's good when it's really not.

I give this issue a 2/10. It's an entire issue dedicated to introducing a character that I already despise in her first appearance, with the entire conflict that was set up last issue being resolved in ONE PAGE, nothing happening, making the issue boring as shit, and with cringy ass dialogue. Honestly I'd give it a 1/10 but Magna and Yumiko sharing a horse distracted me from the awfulness for a few seconds as I imagined them doing the gay.

Don't miss out Ghost's blog on the issue as well.
