I'll rant. I'll speculate. But I won't go on too long. This is S8: Ep 1.
What happened?[]
1) A Muslim man got introduced. AMC must think they will get people to watch if they add in more diversity. Thats not gonna work. I'm calling it now. This guy will affect nobody and will do nothing and by the time he dies we will all be asking ourselves why the fuck he was introduce in the first place, like Tara. That is, if you still watch this show seriously.
2) Some banter between Carl or Rick about "hope" or something stupid like that.
3) Rick, Ezekiel, and Maggie all give speeches before battle which is what all military commanders do. (not). . Completely unrealistic, forgettable, and stupid. Ezekiel is cringy as fuck but that is Ezekiel's whole character.
4) Father Gabriel gets a hella lot of screentime and is important, like he did more this epsisode than the entirty of S5-S7. He saved Rick and taught him a lesson and got screwed by Gregory.
In the end, he is trapped in a train car with Negan on accident. Thats a shame. I actually liked him and wish he had 1 hero moment before he died. :(
5) Daryl drives a motocyle and blows up trash cans with a gun to attract the walkers to Negan's base which is retarded.
1) Negan already has walkers around his base.
2) He is driving way too fast. In S6, he had to basically crawl in order to lead the herd away from Alexandria.
3) Why does he blow up the trashcans? He didn't have to do this in S6. The entire scene was done to give the cash cow a hero moment.
6) Everything else goes exactly like in the comics. Gregory fucks up. Good Guys shoot the windows. Walkers come. Except there is no Holly sacrifice. What we got instead was Gabriel getting tricked by Gregory and Gabriel falling into Negan's hands by accident. Wow. I suspect we won't see him until the mid season finale for Holly's death and the bombing of Alexandria.
7) Rick has a flashforward and we get basic confirmation that he spares Negan's life.
4/10. Stuff happened. Pretty shitty for a premiere.
