Greetings fellow wikians!

Well well well.. look whos late again?

Yup its me and as allways Im sorry, Ive been out of town for a few days because of work and being a functional member of society and that shit and unfortunately that delayed my work on this blog a bit.. which sucks.

Well but now Im back home and ready to type the best review ever!!

Which is sadly not possible since Tombo allready reviewed this issue.. but oh well secpnd place is good enough for me so lets go!

The Whisperer War Part 5[]

The Hilltop

Who would have thought.. the hilltop gets destroyed whoa excitement (would be much higher if not for cover 164*cough*).

The pages are really great and I like that Lydia gets more into the spotlight, but for not being trained in any way (as far as we know) she holds her own pretty well, but thats not a major gripe with me since being a part of the whisperers does seem like it would harden you (as seen with Negan)

Hey Sophia still exists and rescues little Hershel! Im really glad that he doesnt die, we had enough dead babies in the comics. Carl rescuing the hilltopians is cool IMO and that he for once actually gets damage is also pretty different, tough did anyone really believe hed die? was anyone of you really on edge? yeah me neither, but good to see that the plot armor thins out.

I like how Sophia is now depicted as really usefull, I hope she will be more in the forground from now on, because she is as of now the best thing that came out of the timeskip.

Lydia keeps telling of the whisperers, that sure is pleasing.

Another really good part is the conversation between Carson and Aaron, I really hope they keep him around, bein injured and recovering the whole time really made me see how much I not want him to die.

but the last words of this chapter are really dumb "yay we won" sounds really cheesy and sarcastic and I get hat it is meant to be sarcastic but if my house would burn down I wouldnt say "yay i got out wohoo"

Background :[]

Beta is still inured and tries wa too hard to be menacing, as a reader I just dont buy it, but it does come of as realistic, overacted but realistic.

Heath and Vincent report the Savior situation to Rick, which  with allright concerns him, later we see him talk to Andrea about it. I really like how a civil war is foreshadowed in those panels, Rick and Andrea still have a great dynamic.

Kelly from Magnas group loses a hand, am I supposed to care? Nah not really. I do like Yumiko and Magna as characters, but ever since they have shown up they never got that important which is a shame and I still hope that changes in the future.

Dwight is still a Negan, which is justified but man give the guy a break hes crying for dicks sake!

Beta is spying on the militia and since they said theyll go home (presuming home means alexandria) we now know how alexandria will fall.

Eugene and the bullets[]

This is a great minor scene, I like how Eugene is becoming a role model for other survivors to follow and his monologue is really good "people are out there dying for us. we die to get them what they need" really haunting words if you ask me.

The savior situation:

Okay now we come to the ONE thing of this issue which wasnt spoiled by cover 164 and sorry that I bring that up o much but it reall ruined this issue for me.

long story short: Sherry is the new antagonist.

I cant decide if its dumb or interesting... for one, who else could Kirkman have picked? we allready got a new leader from the kingdom which we yet have to get to know, so picking someone we allready know form earlier issues as the new leader aka threat is understandable, introducing too many characters in important positions is risky after all.

But Sherry? I dont know what it is but she does not intimidate me in any aspect and her basically saying that they will fuck everyone over and take everything over thats left from the war SHOULD be threatening.

We will see how this progresses but for now, Im dissapointed.

Pros[]

  • Eugene as a rolemodel
  • Sophia is kicking ass
  • Lydia is kicking ass
  • Aaron saves Carl and bickers with Harlan
  • Much background information
  • Rick and Andrea
  • Plot armor thinnens

Contra[]

  • Whole issue was spoiled from cover 164 (not letting go of it)
  • Sherry as antagonist
  • sarcatic Maggie

Rating[]

Fuck this is harsh, objectively seen its a fairly strong issue, but knowing the outcome of the war inbefour really weakens in... Im gona be honest I didnt enjoy reading this one but I cant be too harsh since its not that bad.. hmmm..

lets do it like this:

Objectively: 7/10

personally: 3/10

I tried, I really tried to like this issue despite the spoiler but in the end I just didnt, I tried to be fair despite being really pissed off and I hope it worked, but at the end of the day it simply wasnt fun this time.

Predictions[]

Well the civil war is next to confirmed now, we well see how the fall of Alexandria will affect this and if Rick even survives to see it happening.

I really hope the next storline is worth the spoiler from the cover, but I have my hopes high that it will be awesome!

Conclusion[]

First of all sorry.

I dont know if you noticed, but I was not in the mood writing this. usually my excitement from the new issue wants me to talk about it right away, but this issue was so underwhelming that I really wasnt in the mood.

Also it doesnt help that Im working double shifts at the moment (12+ hours a day) and that Im really gosh darn tired.

But well despite my whining, I hope you still enjoyed the read and that you had more fun with this issue than  I had!

wish you a nice day!

peace out!
