Victor is a survivor of the outbreak in AMC's The Walking Dead: Dead City. He is a member of the Burazi and serves as a prison guard.
Overview[]
Victor is an affable man who seems to be one of the most friendly Burazi. He builds a relationship with Negan while he is imprisoned. In the end, Victor dies doing what he loved the most, playing Bach on his violin, and his death deeply impacts Negan, and shows everyone how dangerous and unpredictable the Dama is.
Pre-Apocalypse[]
Location Unknown[]
When Victor was a kid, his dad forced him to play the violin. Victor fought his lessons the whole way and his teacher thought that Victor might take some inspiration in Vivaldi. However, Vivaldi was too light for Victor, so his mom suggested Mozart instead, but even that was too dry for him. Victor's father was a big fan of Brahms, but Victor won't play that because Brahms is the worst. After all of those failures, Victor found Bach and enjoyed him the most.
Post-Apocalypse[]
Manhattan, New York[]
At some point in the apocalypse, Victor somehow came into contact with the Croat and his group named the Burazi, which he subsequently joined.
Season 2[]
"Power Equals Power"[]
In a cell, Negan negotiates with his guard Victor for the plate of cockroaches that the Burazi had given the other man as food. After some banter, Victor gives Negan the plate and Negan recalls how a year before, Victor had said that Negan would begging for cockroaches. After making sure that no one else is around, Victor begins to play the violin, but stops as the Croat arrives with two more Burazi.
"Another Shitty Lesson"[]
Negan sits in his cell looking at a bunch of cockroaches, the door wide open, and is visited by Victor who had been ordered to clean up the cell. Taking a seat, Victor tells Negan that as a kid, Victor's father had forced him to learn the violin. Victor fought his lessons the whole way and his teacher thought that Victor might take some inspiration in Vivaldi, and he briefly plays The Four Seasons for Negan. However, Vivaldi was too light for Victor, so his mom suggested Mozart instead and Victor plays Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, but even that was too dry for him. Victor's father was a big fan of Brahms, but Victor won't play that because Brahms is the worst. After all of those failures, Victor found Bach and he plays "Violin Partita No. 2 in D Minor" with obvious passion. "Bach... was full. It was layered. And exciting. So, even when my dad was being a tyrannical fucking asshole, I always had Bach. If I could just focus on Bach, then maybe I could get through another shitty lesson."
On a rooftop, the Burazi prepare makeshift cannons while Negan puts together a small telescope. The Croat guesses that a glum looking Negan must be excited that the people who tried to execute him will now be facing their own execution at Negan's hands. The Croat reminisces about how back in the old days at the Sanctuary, Negan used to relish the chance to take down anyone who crossed the Saviors. The Croat recalls to Victor how only days after he arrived at the Sanctuary, a group of savages attacked, taking the Saviors by surprise and demanding that all of their provisions be handed over. Naturally, the Saviors expected Negan to fight back, but Negan astonished his followers by meekly surrendering instead. As a show of respect, Negan decided to honor the savages with a lavish feast with the Saviors providing all of the food and drink. The Saviors were utterly dismayed at having to serve their attackers and their fearless leader having seemingly disappeared, replaced by a man who gave up too easily. Getting into the story, Negan tells Victor "a meal like this, you have never seen. Bigger than before times. I'm talking 10 Las Vegas buffets lined up in a row. And then there was the main course, the meat. Venison, the finest that the forests of Virginia could offer. But see our guests, they didn't get that meat. No, see at the last second, I had my butchers switch it out... for walker meat." The Croat laughs hysterically at the memory of the savages becoming sick and throwing their guts up all night. Suffice it to say, by dawn, the Sanctuary's walker moat had grown considerably. The main point of the story is that Negan had protected them, and he gave their enemies exactly what they deserved. As the Croat walks away, Negan's mood sours again at the memory of who he used to be.
At the church the next day, the Dama wants to know who Negan was trying to spare when he hesitated. Victor joins them, having been summoned by the Croat, and Negan tells the Dama to take whatever she's planning out on him, not Victor. The Dama is impressed that Victor has made quite the impression on Negan and cracked his shell which is no easy task. As Victor takes a seat, Negan notices the Croat pulling Lucille to him, thus leaving Negan unarmed. The Dama asks about Victor's violin playing which has been discovered because a violin was found Victor's station outside of Negan's cell. The Dama guesses that Victor is very talented which would certainly make an impression on her and the last thing that the Dama would ever do is rob the world of what little is left of the artists and the visionaries. The Dama asks Benjamin if he's a fan of classical music which he nervously confirms.
With Negan's agreement, Victor plays Bach's "Violin Partita No. 2 in D Minor." Negan finally admits that he was stalling because there was a kid on the ferry, claiming that it was some random kid who didn't deserve to die. Cole and the other Burazi restrain Negan in his chair as the performance continues. Once Victor's done, the Dama applauds him telling Victor that it brought her back to the old days, the old city. Bach was the best of his time, the culmination of everything that had come before him. "Or another way to say it, he was the best of what everyone else had been doing for a time. A long time. He didn't change the world. He didn't imagine something new. He wasn't a revolutionary. He just perfected what come before. Instead of pushing us forward, he chose to take us back. I am not interested in going back." Suddenly, the Dama stabs Victor in the side of the neck and slits his throat, killing him, as Negan yells in protest and anger. The Dama sticks her blade in Benjamin's pocket and kisses the Croat on the head, telling him that he did very, very good. As the Dama pops the champagne, Negan glares at the Croat.
