"Vouloir, C'est Pouvoir" is the fifth episode of the second season of AMC's The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. It is the eleventh episode of the series overall. It premiered on October 27, 2024. It was written by David Zabel & Jason Richman and directed by Daniel Percival.
Plot[]
Old friends and enemies realign in surprising ways as a new faction of survivors from the Nest and Pouvoir hunt down Laurent. Daryl struggles to forgive himself and Carol's lies come to a head.
Synopsis[]
Daryl sits in Theo's broken-down car, lost in thought, as Carol calls for him to try starting it again. Carol snaps Daryl out of it and he tries the car, but it won't start. Brushing off Carol's concerns, Daryl grabs his stuff out of the car and the two begin walking towards Paris.
At the Montmartre Rooftop Community, Fallou asks Nadine how Bastien is doing, and she tells him that it's hard and everyone is trying to understand what happened at the Nest. Fallou tells his friend that Losang lost his way took good people like Emile with him, but their people are still the same and they move on. Nadine asks about Laurent, and Fallou states that Laurent was always a symbol for what the future offers, he still is, and Laurent will be safe with their people.
Someone bangs on the door, and everyone readies themselves, finding Stéphane Codron on the other side. Stéphane surrenders to the guards, recognizing Fallou who leads Stéphane into the main area. Furious at Stéphane's role in the attack on the community, Fallou demands to know why he came back and how they can know that Stéphane isn't there to kill everyone. Laurent intervenes, telling Fallou that Stéphane had saved his, Daryl, Isabelle, and Sylvie's lives out on the road. The Power of the Living Guerriers would've killed Daryl's group, but Stéphane stopped them and let everyone go.
Stéphane announces that he has news from the Nest and that there was a siege which Fallou already knows as he was there. Stéphane reveals that Losang was caught by Genet and locked up, pleasing Sonia who says that that's what Losang deserves. Laurent asks if Isabelle and Daryl got out, but Stéphane doesn't know. Stéphane explains that he had met an American woman who was looking for Daryl, but they got separated in the struggle. Recalling Daryl's stories about his friends, Laurent asks if the woman's name was Carol.
Walking through La Défense, Carol asks Daryl what he's going to tell Laurent about Isabelle. Daryl guesses that he'll tell the boy the truth, and at least Daryl can give Laurent the good news that he's coming back to the Commonwealth with them. Daryl asks how Ash will take the news that they're bringing the kid back with them as that wasn't a part of the plan, but Carol just tells Daryl that he will be once she explains things to him.
At the race track, Carol suggests that she should talk to Ash alone as he won't be very comfortable with Daryl at first. Carol dodges Daryl's questions by telling him that Ash has lived alone for years and that this is his first time out in the world, so she doesn't want him to overreact. Daryl points out that the race track isn't safe and that she shouldn't take any dumb risks, but Carol insists that she's got it and that taking dumb risks was how she found Daryl in the first place. Unconvinced, Daryl decides to come, and Carol finally admits that she had lied in order to get Ash to fly her to France. Daryl asks if she had told Ash that he was her brother or something, but Carol states that it was nothing like that, although she doesn't elaborate. Daryl still insists upon coming while Carol will do all of the talking.
Daryl and Carol discover that Ash has barricaded the garage where he has the plane hidden with sheet metal and set up deadly traps inside in case of any intruders. Although there's no sign of Ash, Daryl finds two men caught in one of Ash's traps, one of whom is now a walker. Daryl stabs the walker in the head, while Carol questions Pierre, who is still barely alive, where Ash is. Pierre explains that Ash had left and never come back while Pierre and his companions had come to steal Ash's Plane. Pierre begs them to kill him and Daryl tells Carol that he'll handle it before stabbing Pierre in the head. Spotting another zombified man caught in one of Ash's traps, Daryl puts him down as well.
In a flashback, Ash flees from a herd at night, taking cover inside of an SUV. However, Ash can't get the engine started and the herd quickly begins to surround the vehicle. Attempting to get out, Ash is hit in the head with driver's side door and knocked unconscious when the walker outside shoving against causes the door to close on him. Ash is left unconscious in the SUV as an increasing number of walkers try to get at him.
Walking to Fallou's community, Carol wonders if the people there will be able to help them, which Daryl hopes. Carol tells Daryl that Ash isn't like the two of them because he's gentle. Daryl asks if she has the hots for him or something which Carol denies, although she does like Ash who is a really good person, something that's hard to find these days. Carol reluctantly admits that "I told him I was looking for... my daughter. I don't even know where it came from. I was just searching for a reason, thinking about you, everything we'd been through, all the loss, and I just... Maybe I do know where it came from." Nadine greets Daryl with a hug, pleased to see that he had made it.
As Stéphane eats, Fallou asks what made the man come to them, and Stéphane admits that he had nowhere else to go. Sonia asks if he had a change of heart, and Stéphane explains that during his imprisonment at Maison Mère he had time to think about his brother Michel, his parents and his men in the south, all of whom are lost now. Everyone that Stéphane had wanted to protect is dead because of him. Laurent watches from nearby, sympathetic to Stéphane's story.
Daryl and Carol enter, and Laurent greets Daryl with a hug. As Daryl greets Fallou and looks in surprise at Stéphane, Laurent greets Carol by name, telling her that he had prayed for Carol, Judith, R.J. and Ezekiel. With a smile, Carol tells Laurent that she's heard a lot about him too, and Laurent asks Daryl where Isabelle is. His mood instantly sobering, Daryl pulls the boy aside to share the bad news.
At dinner, Fallou tells Carol that they had heard that Genet is dead, but they were unsure if it's true. Carol confirms it, and Sonia expresses hope that it will be safer here now that she's gone which Carol hopes is true. Fallou asks about the friend that she's looking for, but Carol only knows that Ash must be in trouble.
In his room, Laurent looks at the picture of his mother at the Eiffel Tower and sadly states that Isabelle is with his mother now which Daryl confirms, telling the boy that his aunt had died protecting him which is what Isabelle had wanted. Sylvie and the nuns at the Abbey of Saint Bernadette had done the exact same thing for Laurent, and he struggles to think about the world without them in it, something that Daryl agrees with. Laurent reveals that Isabelle had told him that she loved Daryl which Daryl is unable to respond to. Daryl returns Laurent's Rubik's Cube to him and tells Laurent that the boy can come with him back to America like Daryl and Isabelle had been planning on. Daryl explains that Carol has a friend with a plane, and that once they find him, they can go to America together. Laurent wonders if this will all be over someday and they'll be able to do normal things such as going to school with other kids, see a movie, and ride a bike. Daryl tells him that they have something like that back home, even offering to teach Laurent how to ride a bike himself.
Looking at the picture of his mother again, Laurent states "I don't think so. I should stay here, and you should go back where you belong. That's what you always wanted." Daryl admits that he was wrong, and it's not what he wants and it's not what Laurent wants either. Laurent insists that it's different now because he feels at peace with Fallou's people and Daryl shouldn't be sad because the boy is happy here and Daryl will be happy too when he goes back home. Daryl checks that the boy is sure which Laurent confirms before going to bed. Daryl leaves as Laurent silently cries, clearly not as happy to stay and lose Daryl as he had claimed.
In the morning, Carol wanders around the community, observing the everyday life going on with joy. Carol sees what appears to be Sophia tending to some of the plants and again remembers her zombified daughter emerging from the barn on Hershel's farm. However, when the girl turns around, Carol sees that it's not her daughter.
Carol asks a distracted and upset Daryl if he's ready to go and look for Ash and apologizes for how badly Daryl is hurting over Laurent's refusal to come with them. Daryl knows that he let the boy down and he can't really blame him for being angry, feeling that he probably deserves Laurent getting back at him by refusing to come with them since he's here and Isabelle is not. Carol knows that Daryl is replaying every decision and thinking of everything that he could've done differently which Daryl calls a pretty long list. "You and me both. The past just become one big, giant hole of what ifs," commiserates Carol. Daryl wonders why the two of them have been allowed to go so far and survive for so long when so many people that they care about didn't. The two guess that it's luck, acknowledging that it's hard to tell the difference between luck and bad luck.
Fallou and Nadine approach, telling Carol that it won't be easy tracking down her friend as there aren't good chances of finding a stranger out there alone for that long. Carol points out that she found Daryl alive despite the seemingly impossible chances of that, and Daryl tells Fallou that they both know where to look. There's still only one place to go for information, although Daryl's not too popular there.
Daryl takes Carol to the Demimonde which has become even wilder following Quinn's death and Carol is forced to stop one of the dancers from stealing her knife under the guise of grinding on her. Elsewhere, a group of men brawl while other people try to break them up and Coco blows Carol a kiss as she walks by the stage. Carol notices that some of the guards are Guerriers, and Daryl guesses that they don't work for the Power of the Living anymore following Genet's death.
In the corner, Anna supervises two Guerriers hanging the Mona Lisa up on the club's wall. Anna is surprised to see Daryl again, having heard that he was dead. Anna welcomes Daryl and Carol to the Demimonde, explaining that she had loosened up the rules, finding them to be too British while people want to be free, especially French people. Quinn never understood that, but some of his men did while others needed a little convincing. A man wearing a mask and led by Juliette on a chain brings over some wine and Anna praises him. Carol notes that Anna is very popular with the Guerriers, and she explains that "when the queen dies, the bees scatter with the honey." Daryl tells Anna that Carol is a friend of his and Anna asks about what had happened to Isabelle and is visibly saddened to hear that Isabelle died. Anna asks after Laurent and Daryl states that he's somewhere safe where no one can find or hurt him. Anna states that she did what she had to with Quinn, but she's sorry for any collateral damage that she caused in the process.
Daryl offers Anna the chance to make it up them by helping them find who they are looking for, another American. Anna quips that Americans are everywhere now, questioning how Carol had come to France as she showed up around the same time that an airplane landed west of the city. Anna warns Daryl and Carol to be careful as some people will do anything for a way out, revealing that she had hired Pierre and his companions to track the plane down, but they never came back. Anna promises to put out the word about their friend, but Carol notices two gas cans belonging to Ash being put onto a shelf near the bar. Juliette reveals that they were loot from Maison Mère brought in by two Guerriers. Anna reveals that Maison Mère has been destroyed from what she's heard, so Daryl and Carol ask for a car and weapons to search for their friend there.
Stéphane picks a strawberry which Laurent informs him are rich in Vitamin C and prevents scurvy. Stéphane admits that he didn't know that, and Laurent tells him that most people don't know that you can get scurvy on land. Stéphane enjoys the strawberry, and Laurent asks him if he's had bananas before, which Stéphane confirms he did many times before the world ended, describing them as sweet, although it's been so long that he can't remember for sure. Laurent asks why Stéphane wanted to kill Daryl, and Stéphane explains that Daryl had killed his brother whom he loved, so Stéphane was angry, and he wanted revenge. "Anger is a disease. It makes you do terrible things," Stéphane states. Stéphane reveals that Michel wasn't a bad person, he was just afraid, and Laurent tells him that fear also makes you do terrible things which Stéphane regrets not protecting his brother from. When Laurent told him on the road that God loves him, Stéphane believed him because God loves us all. When Laurent said that, for the first time Stéphane felt like God was watching him to see what he would do, what choice Stéphane would make, and Laurent reassures the man that he did the right thing. Knowing that he's hurt the boy a lot, Stéphane asks for his forgiveness, but Laurent has already forgiven him. He just hopes that one day, Stéphane will be able to forgive himself.
Losang enters with a number of armed Union soldiers and Guerriers including Jacinta, Mathis, Gilbert, Dr. LaFleur, Valon, and Sabine. Nadine discreetly signals Stéphane to hide Laurent and the two climb higher up on the catwalk surrounding the community. Losang calls that they mean no harm and to not worry or to be alarmed by the Guerriers who are brothers and sisters united in their common cause. However, the Union's cause will be lost without the boy because Laurent is the chosen one and he needs to be protected. Sonia tells Losang that they sent Laurent to the Nest, but Jacinta states that Laurent was taken from them, lured away by the American. Sonia begins making preparations to have the community help search for Laurent, but Losang stops them, noticing Laurent's Rubik's Cube on a nearby table which Mathis retrieves for him. Losang sends his men to split up and search for the boy.
Seeing Jacinta getting close to Laurent and Stéphane's hiding spot, Fallou emerges from hiding and takes one of the Guerriers hostage, drawing everyone's attention to him and giving Laurent and Stéphane the chance to move. Fallou rejects Losang addressing him as his brother, causing Losang to suggest that he's a fallen brother who is under the spell of apostate Dixon. Seeing Laurent and Stéphane move, Fallou releases his hostage and surrenders, proclaiming that Losang might speak the word, but Daryl lives it. Losang insists that Daryl is only faithful to himself, wanting to go back home to his own world. Losang asks what will become of their world if Daryl takes the boy, but Fallou counters that Daryl wants to save Laurent while Losang wants to make him a martyr. "Look. Look at how we have to hide from the hungry ones. On the rooftops. In the cellars. Our children, all they've known is fear. And what of their children? The living cower. The numbers dwindling, the dead flourishing, the natural order of things twisted and perverted beyond comprehension. Some people believe the world has ended, that God is also dead. That is why we must find him. The world must see that God is still here and the boy is proof," Losang passionately addresses the community. Fallou counters that if Losang needs proof, then he has already lost his faith and Sonia leads the community in applauding for Fallou, rejecting Losang's words and leadership. With Losang and his forces distracted, Laurent and Stéphane make their escape from the community.
Daryl and Carol arrive at Maison Mère which is deserted and in ruins with the bodies of dead Guerriers strewn about. The Guerriers all appear to be shot with the lack of other bodies suggesting that everyone had fought each other in a riot while looting the Power of the Living stronghold in the aftermath of Genet's death and the fall of the organization as a whole. The two notice that there's no guards around and Carol quips that she's just thrilled to be back. Unnoticed by the two, a large herd moves about the grassy area above the main entrance to the fort, several of whom are zombified Guerriers.
Passing more bodies, Carol goes to check Genet's office while Daryl goes to look further inside of the complex, scaring a dog away from a corpse. Inside, Carol finds a dead Guerrier sitting in front of a machine gun, a lighter, and the tape recorder containing the message that Daryl had recorded after first arriving in France which Carol listens to. Daryl returns and leads Carol to Dr. LaFleur's lab which is full of contained walkers. However, none of them are Ash. Through a nearby window, Daryl spots a growing herd surrounding an SUV outside, suggesting that there's something alive inside. Outside, Daryl and Carol fight their way through the herd, running out of ammo for their larger weapons and switching to Daryl's Morning Star and a pistol respectively. The two are able to get into the SUV where they find Ash dazed, but still alive.
Ash is confused by the presence of Daryl as more and more walkers swarm the vehicle. Examining her friend, Carol thinks that he's just concussed and dehydrated, but nothing's broken. Carol only has a single bullet left and Daryl searches the SUV for anything useful, breaking open a case to find two disassembled dart guns and darts full of Amper Serum. Putting the guns together, Daryl admits that he has a bad idea and has Carol check the vehicle's battery which she confirms it still has, although the SUV won't be moving. However, Daryl just needs to crack a window, and he has Carol open the sunroof for him. Daryl shoots two zombified Guerriers that are on the outer edges of the herd with the serum, mutating them both into Ampers. After a moment, blood splatters the van on all sides as the Ampers tear apart the other walkers in order to get at the living humans inside of the SUV. Once the herd has been dispatched, one Amper breaks through the passenger side window and is shot by Carol while the second Amper breaks through the back window to attack Daryl. Daryl manages to pin the Amper up against the back of the passenger seat, and Carol stabs it in the head. Ash asks where Sophia is, but Carol just tells him that they need to get him out of here. With Daryl helping Ash to walk, the three carefully pick their way through the dismembered, decapitated and otherwise horrifically disabled walkers to safety.
At the race track, Carol tends to Ash before leaving to talk to Daryl who expresses his doubts about the plane being able to get them home, but Carol points out that it got them here. Carol estimates that they need 50 more gallons on top of what they already have to get back home, and Daryl pulls Carol aside to talk to her in private in the stands. Daryl tells Carol that she should tell Ash the truth, but Carol just wants Ash to get healthy before she breaks his heart. Daryl questions Carol's choice of lie and she admits that she had to be convincing, and she chose something that Carol wished was true. "And... he lost his son." Expressing understanding, Daryl tells Carol to get Ash ready to fly while he goes to get them the fuel that they need.
Daryl returns to the Demimonde where Anna leads him to Laurent and Stéphane. The two explain that they came to the club looking for Daryl after Losang came to the camp looking for Laurent. With Genet dead, Losang now has some of her people behind her in addition to his own people, so Stéphane brought him to the Demimonde. Daryl thanks Stéphane, promising that he owes him one, and asks about everyone else. Laurent confirms that Fallou and his community are safe with Stéphane adding that Losang is only interested in finding Laurent, not hurting innocent people. Daryl asks Anna for help again, and she jokes that people are gonna talk.
At the bar, Anna tells Daryl that she can get him the fuel that he needs, making it clear that she's not doing it for him and ordering Max to load Daryl up with as much ethanol as he can carry. Max objects that he's not sure that they have enough to just give it away, but Anna overrules his objections and Max grabs Theo to help him. Anna confirms with Daryl that he plans to take the boy with him, stating "there'll be another Genet before long. Laurent will be safer in America. At least you guys don't fall for fascists." The two clink their glasses together in a toast.
Carol works on the plane, impressing the recovered Ash. Ash realizes that Sophia isn't coming and she's dead which Carol confirms. Ash tries to comfort Carol, telling her that there was nothing that she could do about halfway across the world, but Carol isn't interested in talking about it and she tearfully apologizes to Ash for everything. Ash knows that it's easy for them as parents to blame themselves for the loss of his children, and reveals that during the days that he spent waiting for Carol to return, Ash got to thinking about how much this trip helped him to get past the guilt that Ash has been carrying about losing his son. Coming to France with Carol forced him to overcome it and live again which Ash is grateful to her for and he's only sorry that it didn't end better for her. Carol is visibly conflicted about the secret that she's keeping and the effect that is having on Ash.
Waiting for the fuel to be ready in the upper level sitting area, Daryl again tries to convince Laurent to come to America, but the boy wants to stay at the camp. Although it's not safe anymore, Fallou will find a new place and he has friends there. Daryl points out that Laurent can find friends anywhere and there's other kids where they're going along with both Daryl and Carol. Laurent finally admits that he's afraid that if he goes with Daryl, Daryl will die too. "The sisters, Isabelle, Sylvie -- they're all gone because of me. Everyone. Everybody I love dies." Daryl attempts to comfort the boy, but he's interrupted by a commotion below as Losang and his men enter, and the club's staff move to distract them. Seeing them coming, one man helps Stéphane-- who was helping to get the fuel ready -- to escape. Anna sends Williams to block the stairs while she helps Daryl and Laurent escape, but Jacinta notices them heading to Quinn's room. Confronted by Losang, Anna mockingly answers his questions, but Jacinta follows a breeze to a hidden door leading into the Catacombs of Paris.
In the catacombs, Daryl, Laurent and Stéphane find each other and split up after hearing Losang coming. Finding this, Losang splits up, taking Gilbert and Valon while Dr. LaFleur and the others go with Jacinta. Daryl has Laurent hide, promising to come back for him and Losang walks right by the boy's hiding place without seeing him.
Elsewhere, Stéphane ambushes and strangles Mathis before shooting the female Guerrier when she goes to investigate. Stéphane sneaks up on Dr. LaFleur, disarms him and shoots the mad scientist in the head with his own rifle, killing him. Jacinta attacks Stéphane with her sword, but Stéphane grabs and strangles her. Jacinta manages to stab Stéphane in the shoulder with a knife and break free, but he just grabs her and flings Jacinta into the wall before walking away.
Reaching an intersection, Losang and his men split up. While Losang's back is turned, Daryl stabs Gilbert and Valon to death. Daryl faces off with Losang, using his knife and morning star against Losang's Staff in a vicious battle. Both men land blows against each other, but Losang is able to disarm Daryl, deploying a hidden blade from the end of his staff and flinging Daryl through a cross to the ground. As Losang moves in for the kill, Daryl wraps a fallen skull in a piece of cloth and bashes Losang in the face with it, knocking him unconscious. Grabbing another skull, Daryl uses it to brutally bash Losang's head in, killing him. Daryl retrieves Laurent, links up with Stéphane, and follows the other man out of the catacombs. Unnoticed by either man, Jacinta begins to stir, having only been knocked out.
Ash interrupts Carol's cleaning job on the plane, telling her that he doesn't think that she can get the front window any cleaner than that. Carol suggests that Ash should get some more rest, but Ash thinks that some activity will be good for him after being stuck in a car for two days. As Ash helps her, Carol expresses her appreciation for Ash making this trip with her and she's glad that he thinks that it was worth it. "The thing is, uh... I lied. I didn't come here looking for Sophia. I came here to look for Daryl. Sophia died 12 years ago," Carol confesses. To Carol, it's like her daughter never went away and it's like she never let her go because Carol never forgave herself. Carol knows that Ash shares that feeling and for Carol, that feeling has only gotten worse lately. When Carol met Ash, she told him what she had to to convince Ash to help her. Ash is furious at Carol for using her dead daughter to manipulate him, yelling that he believed in her and gave up his world, his home, his memory of Avi for her. Ash berates Carol that the ends don't justify the means and whatever comfort or bonding that they had earlier was meaningless because it was all based on Carol's lie to get his plane. Ash storms off, leaving Carol behind.
At Fallou's community, Daryl shakes hands with Stéphane, the two men finally making peace with each other. Anna, having brought the fuel for the plane, tells Laurent that he is always welcome in the Demimonde before she leaves. Laurent is still reluctant to go to America, but Daryl thinks that Laurent was wrong. The boy blames himself, which is what kids do, but you also have to let go of the things that scare you. Both Isabelle and Daryl want Laurent to go to America with him, but the boy has to make up his own mind. Laurent finally agrees, and he leaves with Daryl. Driving past the Grande Arche, Laurent comments that it looks like the future which Daryl agrees with.
At the race track, Daryl shows Laurent the plane which the boy has only seen before in books. Laurent comments that up in the clouds, they'll be close to Isabelle, Sylvie and his mother who can watch over them. Carol tells Daryl that it didn't go so good, and the two introduce the boy to Ash and explain to Laurent that is going to fly them home. "Yeah, well, one small hitch. This plane will never get off the ground with all four of us. So, Paris, we have a problem," Ash reveals. Daryl and Carol are shocked by the revelation that someone will have to stay behind.

- The title of the episode, "Vouloir, C'est Pouvoir", is French and means "to want is to be able to" which is similar to the English idiom "where there's a will, there's a way".
- In the Episode Insider, David Zabel explains that it's a little bit of a play on Pouvoir because it's the name of the movement that Genet has been leading for years. It's also a reference to Daryl's relentless need to find and get to Laurent, especially with Isabelle gone.
- As of this episode, Clémence Poésy (Isabelle Carriere) and Anne Charrier (Marion Genet) have been removed from the opening credits.
- In the Episode Insider, Joel de la Fuente reveals that he's not a martial arts practitioner, so he got in touch with a very accomplished martial artist and aikido master named Leo Tamaki who, along with the stunt department, helped Joel do as much as he could himself of the fight scene between Daryl and Losang rather than relying on Joel's stunt double for the whole thing.
- Joel also reveals that the fight scene was shot months before he was finished shooting the rest of Losang's scenes.
Episode Highlights[]
- At the Montmartre Rooftop Community, Codron is met with a frosty reception by Fallou and his people after he arrives there, but they eventually let him stay after Laurent tells them he saved his, Daryl, Sylvie, and Isabelle's lives on the road. Codron informs the Montmartre community about the siege at the Nest and notifies them about the American woman he met who is looking for Daryl. Laurent correctly deduces that the woman Codron met is Carol.
- Carol and Daryl arrive back at the race track where Ash's plane is, to find Ash has set up deadly traps and is now nowhere to be seen. Daryl also puts down two walkers and a survivor, who got caught in the traps while trying to steal the plane.
- In a flashback, Ash is running away from a walker herd and ends up trapped in an SUV at the Maison Mère after trying to start up the vehicle to escape. Whilst trying to get out of the SUV and past a walker on the other side of the driver side door, he gets knocked unconscious after the door closes on him and hits him in the head, with the SUV getting surrounded by walkers.
- Carol and Daryl arrive at Montmartre, where Daryl and Laurent hug and Laurent and Carol meet for the first time. Daryl pulls Laurent to the side to tell him about Isabelle's death and that Laurent will be coming back to America with him and Carol, though Laurent refuses, lying that he is happy staying in France.
- Daryl and Carol go to Demimonde to ask for information about Ash's whereabouts and wind up having a meeting with Anna Valery, who is now the owner of Demimonde after Quinn's death. After Carol notices some Guerriers bringing in some of Ash's gas cans, Anna gives Carol and Daryl a car and weapons to search for Ash at Maison Mère, where the gas was found, and reveals that Maison Mère was destroyed.
- Back at Montmartre, Laurent and Codron talk about Codron's brother and how he was the reason Codron wanted to kill Daryl. Guilt ridden and remorseful, Codron explains Laurent helped him believe in God again and profoundly apologizes to the boy for everything he's put him through. Laurent forgives him, whilst also hoping that Codron can forgive himself.
- After Losang and his soldiers enter Montmartre looking for Laurent, Codron and Laurent are able to escape the camp thanks to a timely distraction from Fallou, during which Fallou renounces Losang as his leader and gains applause from his people.

- At the race track, a guilt ridden Carol finally tells Ash the truth about Sophia and why she really came to France, after which a livid Ash yells at her for manipulating him and storms off.
- In the catacombs, a tense showdown between Daryl and Losang's groups ensues after Daryl helps Laurent hide, which results in Codron killing Mathis, Dr. LaFleur, and another Guerrier, and Daryl killing Gilbert, Valon and, after a fierce fight, Losang. Jacinta is shown to be still alive, having been knocked unconscious after a fight with Codron.
- After returning to Montmartre, Daryl and Codron finally make peace and Laurent finally agrees to go back to America with Daryl and Carol. However, when Daryl and Laurent arrive at the race track, Ash tells Laurent, Daryl and Carol that the plane won't be able to fly with all four of them, meaning someone has to stay behind.
