WABE was a radio station in Atlanta. The station employs Carley is a reporter and Steve is a radio broadcaster in this station. Carley mentioned that the station had covered Lee's murder trial.
Carley first mentions WABE and that their funding had recently been cut by senators and that she was in Macon to cover the Cherry Blossom Festival. After Lee finds some batteries for Carley's radio, one of the station's presenters, Steve, suddenly tells his listeners that his producer has said that he needed to get off the air before some alarming noises are heard. Carley is visibly shaken after hearing this.
