The Walking Dead Wiki's official Page Policies are listed below. These policies are the New Page Policy, thePage Moving Policy, and the Actor Named Characters Policy.
New Page Policy
This policy refers to the creation of New Pages. New pages can be made by anyone, however this policy is in place to prevent spam and irrelevant new pages from being created.
New Page Restrictions
The following is a list of all New Page restrictions. Any pages found to fit these will be removed;
- Irrelevant Pages - Pages that aren't necessary or relevant
- Off-Topic Pages - Pages that aren't TWD related
- Fanfiction Pages - Fan work pages, read more here; Fanfiction Policy
- Spam Pages - Multiple unneeded pages made within a short period of one another
If a user is found to be abusing these policies, their pages will be removed and the user will be warned, and if necessary blocked by an administrator.
Page Moving Policy
Page Moving refers to the act of moving a page to a different name. As an example, imagine making a page but then you notice a spelling error in the page title. Moving a page would help you rectify this mistake.
The following is a visual example:
"Sophia Peleteir (TV Series)" -> "Sophia Peletier (TV Series)"
Page Moving Reasons
The following is a list of reasons why a page move might be necessary.
- Spelling errors
- First name reveals
- Last name reveals
- Tag updates*
- Canonicity concerns
- Unnamed character renumbering
*The tag is what one will find at the end of a page title, normally referring to the series the character or location is from. Etc. (Fear) or (Telltale)
Page Moving Restrictions
Pages shouldn't be moved if none of previously mentioned reasons aren't listed. Pages recklessly moved or pages moved in vandalism will be reverted, and can result in a block. If you feel a page should be moved for reasons not listed above, please contact an Administrator or a Wiki Janitor and discuss with them why you believe it should be moved. It is almost always recommended that you contact an Administrator or Wiki Janitor before you move a page.
Actor Named Characters Policy
This policy refers to the process of Actor Named Characters being accepted into the wiki. While any actor can technically name the unnamed characters they portray, for sake of keeping the wiki's page numbers down, and avoiding contentless pages and cluttering the character navboxes, we have put in place a policy to limit what is allowed on the wiki.
The guidelines are as followed;
- Must be a credited actor in "Also Starring" or higher, "Co-Stars" or lower will not be accepted
- Will likely never appear again, either with a dead, undead, or unknown status
- Avoidance of joke or pop culture names not meant to be taken seriously
- Must be able to have a credible cited source linked
- Must be approved by an administrator before creation or renaming of the page
Pages found to be breaking these guidelines will be removed or renamed, and the related editor will be warned to follow them in the future. Repeated offenses might led to a block if needed.
