Vandalism is the action of involving deliberate destruction of or damage to any page, template, category or anything else here in the Walking Dead Wiki. These offenses are taken very seriously and will always result in a block, no matter how big or small the vandalism is.
Identifying Vandalism
Vandalism is almost always edits not made in good faith. If the edit obviously harms or damages the page in an intentional way, it is made in bad faith and is considered vandalism. If you suspect vandalism has occurred on any page, one should check the edit history first and find when the edit was made. One then should then revert the edit, or manually remove the vandalism if reverting isn't available anymore due to other edits. Anyone can revert vandalism, not just the staff. Please then report the vandalism to an Administrator or Wiki Janitor.
Types of Vandalism
The following lists common types of Vandalism. If you see anything that falls under this criteria, please report it to an Administrator or Wiki Janitor immediately.
Gibberish/Nonsense
Gibberish and Nonsense is unintelligible or meaningless writing often made to make fun or spoof a certain topic on a page in an attempt to be funny. These edits are forbidden and will always be removed, all information on our pages must be relevant and on-topic, as well as purely factual without bias from the editors.
Character Naming/Renaming
Name Vandalism is when a user renames an existing character or adds an unofficial name. Most renames are in an attempt to be funny, and will often parody the character's name in some way, such as "Ruck Grumes". Naming a character is when a user names an unnamed character themselves. Edits such as these will be removed as only names provided by official TWD creators, sites, and actors are allowed.
Blanking Pages
Page Blanking is when a user removes all content from a page, leaving nothing behind. When a message isn't left in the "Describe what you changed" section of the edit, the edit will show "Blanked Page".
User Pages
User Page Vandalism is when a user purposely attacks another user's page in an act of aggression. Other users should always try to refrain from editing other user pages without permission. Attacking ones page for any reason is strictly prohibited. Attacking a user page is considered as "Adding unwanted content, removing content, and altering existing content".
The only exceptions to editing other user pages is when;
- A user has direct permission from the user.
- Administrators adding or removing admin and/or staff templates (Read more about them here: Staff Templates) from new/former admins and staff, as well as any users who are falsely using the templates without having said position.
Punishment
As previously stated, acts of vandalism are taken very seriously and will always result in a block, no matter how big or small the vandalism is. First time offenses will result in the 6 month block, second offenses will almost always result in a permanent block. If the offense in on a user page, it will always be a permanent block, as the wiki maintains a civil environment for all editors and users, and with such vandalism on user pages goes directly against that.
