"What Lies Ahead" is the sixth episode of The Walking Dead: Destinies and the first part of "Survival of the Fittest".
Synopsis[]
With walkers having overrun the Atlanta camp, the survivors set out toward a millitary base, Fort Benning, in search of shelter. They soon come upon an impassible stretch of highway jammed with abandoned cars, forcing them to stop and set up a temporary camp while they plan their next move.
Plot[]
Dale spots a horde approaching and A walker breaks through their defense and chases Carol's daughter Sophia away. Rick immediately goes after her, killing several walkers in his way, until he finds her hiding behind a bush. He tells her to hide near a creek, while he draws the walkers away. He heads back near the highway and fights off the incoming horde. Once it's clear, he heads back to where Sophia was, but she is no longer there.
Shane and Carl soon find him. Shane and Rick get into an argument, while Carl spots a deer. The conversation is cut short, when a gun shot rings out and Rick and Shane see Carl and the deer have been shot. Rick rushes over to Carl and carries him to a farm, owned by an old man named Hershel Greene, along with his daughters Maggie and Beth. Hershel tells Rick to take Carl inside. Some time later, Hershel manages to stabilize Carl's condition, but the bullet broke into pieces and he doesn't have the right equipment. He tells them the nearest hospital burned down, but FEMA set up a shelter at the high school. Shane volunteers to go with the help of one of the Greene daughters.
Expedition[]
No Man Left Behind[]
Glenn insists on assembling a task force to go back to Atlanta. He wants to look for the man left behind and scavenge for weapons. Glenn knows that no one can survive too long there on their own and feels responsible for the situation.
During the mission, Glenn will radio you, telling you the person is gone with only a hand remaining and asks if he should follow the bloodtrail or go for the weapons. Rick can choose to tell Glenn to either follow the blood or go for the guns. The correct course of action is to tell him to follow the trail.
The Crowded Camp[]
Daryl volunteers to go on a supply run in the woods near the camp. He saw an abandoned campsite on his last outing, and thinks the tents could contain valuable supplies.
During the mission, Daryl will radio you, telling you there are a few "bad lookin' dudes" at the camp and asks if he should take them out. Rick can choose to tell Daryl to either quickly kill them or to find another way. The correct course of action is to tell him to find another way.
Ambulance Chaser (Determinant)[]
T-Dog recalls seeing an ambulance on the highway that looked undamaged. It might contain medical supplies, so he volunteers to ho check it out.
During the mission, T-Dog will radio you, telling you there are too many supplies and suggests to hot wire the ambulance and drive it back with all the supplies. Rick can choose to tell T-Dog to either hotwire it or take all supplies he can with him. The correct course of action is to tell him to take all he can without hotwiring it.
Road Rage (Determinant)[]
To prove his worth to the group, Merle volunteers to return to the traffic jam and scavenge whatever supplies might remain in the cars there.
During the mission, Merle will radio you, telling you he is unable to search the cars due to there being too many walkers. Rick can choose to tell Merle to either shoot them or to abandon the search. The correct course of action is to tell him to shoot them all.
Group Conflict[]
Maggie/Beth: "Shane needs one of the Greene sisters to guide him to the FEMA shelter at the high school. Both Maggie and Beth went to school there, and know their way around. Who should go?"
Rick can choose either Maggie or Beth to accompany Shane.
