At some point, years into the outbreak, the camp was set in up in the middle of a woodland clearing in the Virginia wilderness by the Whisperers as they had done with numerous camps prior to their current one. As a primitivist society, the Whisperers rely on the most basic accommodations and materials that nature provides them with. The inhabitants of the camp do not use tents, instead building their own 'nests' out of spare foliage, and do not use fires to cook their food.
The Whisperers reach the forest where they have set up a large camp.
When Alpha asks Lydia to kill Henry, suddenly, a herd appear in the camp, causing panic among the Whisperers.
At the Whisperer camp, Beta consoles a dying Whisperer and then tells a tracker to find Lydia or else “they’ll all walk with the Guardians.”
In their camp, Beta tells Alpha "the time away has been good for the pack." Alpha reminds him she'll need to be strong for what comes next and Beta assures her she will be. He then flogs her arm with a branch to make her strong.
