This article is about the TV Series arena. You may be looking for the Comic Series arena.

The Woodbury Arena is a stadium in the rural town of Woodbury, Georgia. Walkers are kept on chains in the arena, as they are used in pit fights for Woodbury's entertainment. The pit is first seen in "Say the Word" when Merle Dixon and Caesar Martinez fight each other for the town's amusement.

Season 3[]

The Governor uses the arena as a system of entertainment for the people of Woodbury: staged fights are held between two people, one of which is Merle and Martinez's fight, which Merle won. The fights are made even more intense by having Walkers on chains surround the fighting area, reaching in towards the two. The chains are perpetually given more slack as the fight progresses, much to Andrea's horror. She argues that the fights are teaching people that walkers aren't dangerous, and the Governor reveals that the fights are staged. The Governor later uses the arena to rally his people against the Prison group and to support the decision of executing Merle and Daryl, and later order that they fight to the death. However this is cut short when Rick and Maggie intervene by throwing smoke grenades into the arena and firing on the people, saving Merle and Daryl.
