The Woodbury Army is a massive group of armed Woodbury citizens rounded together by The Governor to kill Rick Grimes' group in order to capture the Prison, as well as to satisfy his own hatred of the group.
Overview
Pre-Apocalypse
The Woodbury Army began as a scattered group of citizens of the U.S.
Post-Apocalypse
After Brian Blake's torture at the hands of Michonne, Brian rallied up the citizens of Woodbury and sent out a message of the terrible beings that they were, revealing Caesar Martinez's decapitated head, now reanimated, and demanded that they be stopped. A great majority of the town joined his army, which he led to The Prison and fought against Rick's group. Only the elderly, children and the disabled stayed behind in Woodbury.
A huge battle broke out and they lost a vast amount of soldiers during the siege, so many they were forced to regroup. They returned with even more soldiers. However Billy Greene threw a grenade at a car, sending deadly shrapnel throughout the air, killing Daniel, Rudy Warburton, Don Horgan, Charlie Banes, Teddy Grainger, and Bart. Gabriel Harris is killed by Andrea after the latter shoots him in the head. An enraged Brian orders Gus Strunk to ram a car into the RV where Andrea is. Gus is killed in the car crash. Brain orders Jared to drive his tank over the fences, thinking they can repair them later. Brian orders Tom Blanchford to go into the prison and kill anyone inside. While trying to escape the Prison, Brian orders Lilly Caul to kill Lori Grimes, however Lori's corpse crushes her baby Judith. Lilly is horrified that she had killed a baby, she kills Brian, blaming it on him. Lilly uses his corpse to distract the walkers invading the Prison. She leads the surviving Woodbury soldiers inside the Prison. Lilly and five other survivors escape back to Woodbury, thanks to the sacrifice made by Austin Ballard.
