The Living Revolution is indeed alive and well. It's true nature, however, is not to simply stand against the dead. The dead are not our only enemy. Like the Civil War and the Cultural Revolution before, the Living Revolution must not only defeat enemies from the outside, we must also cleanse ourselves from the inside. Only when the tainted and corrupted are gone will the survivors be pure and golden.
―Hengyen to Secretary Guo before beheading him.[src]

Ying Hengyen (Hengyen Ying) is a main character and the tritagonist of The Walking Dead: Typhoon. He is the Windmaster of the Beacon of Light and a figure of authority with a celebrity status.

Relationships[]

Wanfga

Hengyen and Wangfa initially had a positive relationship. The two of them were a good team and Wangfa loyally followed Hengyen's leadership. A rift started to form between the two after the typhoon was discovered and Wangfa suggested a plan to slow the typhoon and defend the Beacon of Light instead of evacuating. Hengyen didn't hold this against him as there weren't enough good soldiers left. Eventually Secretary Guo demoted Hengyen as Defensemaster and gave the position to Wangfa. Over the next few weeks, the guards at the Beacon would inflict more force and discipline due to Wangfa's leadership. After Chen Wenzhu's escape, Guo insisted Hengyen leave the Beacon to hunt down the deserting windrunner and bring back the residents of the hidden village. While Hengyen was gone, Wangfa helped Guo evacuate the Beacon along with all of it's supplies. Without any leadership or direction the Beacon would fall into a battleground of pure chaos and no order. When Hengyen returns and discovers Guo missing, he takes it upon himself to rally the people and save the Living Revolution. The last of Hengyen's respect for Wangfa would die after he discovers Bo's dead body and Wangfa about to murder Zhu. He forces Wangfa to come and help defend from the typhoon which had now breached the Beacon's walls. Wangfa then slips out with a crowd and abandons the settlement. Three weeks later, Hengyen returns along with several of his surviving loyal followers. Hengyen stabs Wangfa in the stomach and twists the knife before watching him bleed out on the floor with no pity.

Guo

The Living Revolution is indeed alive and well. It's true nature, however, is not to simply stand against the dead. The dead are not our only enemy. Like the Civil War and the Cultural Revolution before, the Living Revolution must not only defeat enemies from the outside, we must also cleanse ourselves from the inside. ―Hengyen to Guo before decapitating him.[src]

Hengyen and Guo didn't have a positive relationship. Guo declined Hengyen's request to evacuate the Beacon of Light and demoted him from his position of Defense Master. He also lied to Hengyen about the military returning and slowly reclaiming the country. Guo made sure Hengyen was outside the Beacon hunting down Wenzhu while his supporters stole all the Beacon's supplies and Guo himself abandoned the settlement. After Hengyen's return and learning about the truth, he takes it upon himself to rally the people and save the Living Revolution. Three weeks later, Hengyen returns along with several of his surviving loyal followers. Guo admits that he was wrong and they should have evacuated the Beacon like he said, and that he's safeguarding the supplies for the survival of the Living Revolution. Hengyen tells Guo that the Living Revolution is in fact alive, but they need to cleanse the corruption from the inside before flicking his wrist and beheading Guo.
